Weaning

My son is almost 13 months old and I feel like I'm ready to wean. Ever since he got his top teeth it's very painful to nurse him, almost to the point of tears. He takes a bottle fine, but he doesn't seem satisfied with it. He'll drink the whole bottle and than could still nurse almost a full feeding still. He's been extra clingy as well. My question is, does this mean that he isn't ready to wean yet? I don't want to force it on him.

Yes, your son is not ready to nurse! This is a hard situation, we don't want an unhappy mama but it sounds like your son is not ready to wean! The WHO and UNICEF both recommend breastfeeding until 24 months at least! And new studies show that children don't naturally wean until around 4.5-7 http://www.kathydettwyler.org/detwean.ht... I know it seems a little extreme but child led weaning is beautiful! I still nurse my 3 year old!

That being said, you should both be comfortable! Good luck!
