My daughter will be one on the 22nd of this month and i would like to try to wean her at that time. i only breastfed her and we both love it. she does every so often take a sippy cuz for juice or water but she does not really like it....before if i had to run somewhere and didnt know if she would want to eat i would pump and put it in a bottle or sippy cup but after my husband tried to feed her she wouldnt take it so i would hasve to hurry home. here lately she has been wanting to eat meals when we all eat so i do feed her bananas, noodles and things like that but she still breatfeeds right after. (she hates the baby jar food) is there any goot tips or suggestions i could try when i start to wean her.

My son will be 1 on the 12th. He is down to nursing in the morning and at night, before bed. We are still in the process of weaning, but I think before you can begin, your daughter needs to be eating a good variety of solid foods and taking some sort of cup well (we've experimented with quite a few...). My son did enjoy the jarred baby food for awhile but now wants nothing to do with baby or toddler food (except for puffs and yogurt melts). I have been worrying about him taking enough in the cup to stop offering breast milk during the day but we just kept up with offering the sippy cup (he was getting a bottle of breast milk before his afternoon nap - 6oz...we lowered it to 4 oz before removing the bottle altogether). He now takes between 3-4 oz of juice with breakfast and between 4-6oz of whole milk with lunch and dinner. For breakfast, I give him fruit and a grain (such as a waffle, cheerios, or puff) or sometimes scrambled egg or yogurt. For lunch, we do fish sticks, chicken tenders or yogurt (assuming he didn't have it for breakfast the same day). I also offer him beans - black beans or chickpeas - these are a good source of protein. I like to think he's eating a well balanced diet.... The most difficult time of day for us beginning weaning was around 5pm - after he gets up from his afternoon nap - he wants to nurse and I'm usually still working so it was "easier" for me to nurse him....now, I offer him his cup and a snack (some yogurt melts or cheerios). I then get him dinner by 6 (or a little earlier). Occasionally, he still looks for the breast during the day, but I think all in all we are doing well. I have realized that the hardest part of weaning has been my own "laziness" - it is easier to breast feed him than get him a cup - I think this is what is making getting rid of the morning nursing difficult - I'm just not a morning person! I am hoping to have him weaned w/in the next month or two.
