If you want something natural, look up the natural fertility method. It works as well as the pill if you follow the instructions properly. It involves taking your temperature every morning, so you can work out when you have ovulated.

I had the non-hormone cousin to mirena, the copper one. Either one will have a thread coming down that's kinda like suture thread or wire and it might cause some discomfort during sex(for your partner) I had the string shortened twice and it was still hurting him. his words exactly were "that stupid string keeps stabbing me in the wang!" So i just took it out. I have to go back on the pill, but we're using condoms at the moment. You should be okay taking a low-dose pill like tri-cyclin lo but it is important to take it the same time everyday, since it is a lower dose pill. Your doctor will give you options when you talk to him/her..make sure you tell them you're breastfeeding and you'll be fine.

I have Mirena and I did A LOT of research before I got it. I am not overly concerned with not being able to conceive again, because the possibility of that is virtually the same if you take any birth control. I have read where some people had trouble when it was completely inserted incorrectly. I remember one woman saying "it hurt every time I crossed my legs....", which, umm.....she should have done something about that as soon as she realized something was wrong.

Anyways, I don't really get a period at all (which is awesome), and I don't have to use any other form of birth control (which is also awesome). The things that are NOT awesome are that you get pretty severe acne (mine stays controlled if I am just sure to wash my face every morning and night), and I have recently started to get BV on occasion. It feels like a yeast infection, but isn't, it is pretty horrible to say the least. All in all though, I would get it again and I am happy with my choice. It makes me feel completely confident that I will not become pregnant again before I want to, which I know would not be the same if I was taking a pill or anything else.

Mini pill, for sure. My midwife explained it to me that the other pills contain estrogen, which can reduce your milk supply.

Another downside to the mini pill is that my midwife told me to use condoms the first year with it anyway because there is like between 1 - 12% chance you can get pregnant while using it.

depo causes bone density loss like crazy, most docs wont even prescribe it any more. i cant take hormones cuz they mess with my seretonin levels and a friend suggested i try a diaphram...maybe an option. iud is dangerous if you plan on having more babies because it causes uterine scarring.

They put me on the Mini Pill. You can get the shot or an IUD like Mirena I believe. The positive about the Mini Pill is I didn't get my period again until my son was about 7 or 8 months and it is much lighter. The negative is you must take it the exact same time every day for it to be effective. It can also make you sleepy.
