I prefer to use breast milk instead of saline sprays. You already have it available :). A drop or two in each nostril will loosen things up. You can use a tissue and gently squeeze the outside of their nose from top to bottom to work things out instead of the aspirator.

I've never medicated a cold in an infant... actually it's extremely rare that I've medicated a cold in any of my kids... or myself. I wouldn't do anything for a slight cough. Coughing is good to get the crud out. ;)

Hope she's feeling better soon!

you can use a humidifier and some vics vapor rub. Make sure you get the baby vics... not adult vics. Also, I know some who swear by rubbing the vics on babies feet. You can give tylenol for any aches and pains that go along with the cold, but cough syrup and decongestants are not recommended for babies.

When my LO gets stuffed up I also use saline spray in her nose, then a nasal aspirator to suck as much goop out as possible.

Stick her in shower with you so she drains, coughs and gets that yuckiness out. I have done that many times with my 13 month old.

poor bubby, for a stuff nose i know they don't like it but I irrigate their nose with that saline spray for babies, plus if they're really uncomfy I use drixine paediatric drops. plus the other things the other ladies recommend as the vaporiser and baby vicks or eucky bear rub on their chest & feet also.

The closest thing to cold medicine a baby that size should have is warm (not hot!) chamomile tea. Saline drops for her nose and extra nursing would be better.

I agree with Lori except I do not use a nasal aspirator, because my dr was against them, but I suck the snot out myself. I know it sounds gross but my dr told me alot of parents do not use the aspirator right and also that they can contain germs if not properly cleansed. So yeah I just suck and spit. but if you choose to use the aspirator than you do save yourself the ICK factor :)
