Hi im new to the group and i am dying for help and support! I have a 21 month old daughter and have breastfed her up until about a month ago when i weaned her cos she was only BFing max 2 times a day and pacifying herself all night on my breast! Also for the past 2 or 3 months i have been having back pain and nerve problems with numbness in legs and now hands and my dr gave me medicines to take which made me worried to keep BFing my daughter and finally i came to the conclusion my BFing was stopping my body let go of the fat which i am surprised by cos with my son i lost weight. So cos of my back and everything exercising isnt really an option and i have given up trying to eat healthy cos im so depressed and im becoming desperate its been so long since i have felt good about my body im currently 88 kgs and before my 2 kids (which i had back to back ) i was 65 kgs my stomach is flabby and horrible and my whole body is just swollen , please help im so depressed, thanx

While bfing I lost my pp weight with the help of Mummy magic weight loss tea. I had to lose 40 pounds that I gained with my baby and all those extra pounds I shed within three months.

I also suspect that breastfeeding is causing me to retain weight! I have been bfing for 15 months now & for 3 months I have been on a work out regime. I do cardio on an elliptical 5 or 6 days a week for 10-20 minutes. Most days I also walk to the park about 1 mile. I have raised my activity level. I eat quite a lot of food, but no junk food aside from a bit of chocolate or glass of wine some nights. I wake up ravenous and eat a heavier breakfast than I ever did pre-baby. I haven't lost a single pound since starting my exercises 3 months ago!!

I do feel better & sleep better & felt that clothes looked better on me. I try to concentrate on that, but it really upsets me.

I was thinking the other day that dairy cows are fat, not thin....maybe the story that you lose weight from breastfeeding is propaganda?

I am still currently breastfeeding and have been for several months. Initially I lost weight but only down to my early pregnancy (3 month) weight. Then the weight loss stopped. I'm a bit disappointed, as everyone told me that I'd likely be a little lighter from breastfeeding than what I initially was pre-pregnancy. I guess such things are not true for everyone. Best wishes to you, I certainly hope that you feel better soon.

I would certainly seek professional help. Depression is a nasty thing.

Many people lose weight when breastfeeding, but not everyone does.

Some women lose weight & some don't. It all depends on your activity & your diet. Something that I thought of, there is an exercise program that was designed for senior citizens that you can find videos of on youtube, it's called 'SilverSneakers'. It's designed for out of shape folks with limitations &/or injuries. I teach these classes, and I have alot of young people who's doctors have told them to try these classes after injuries, surgeries & such. You don't need any fancy equipment. I started doing them after I had my baby, and was really surprised at how much I did sweat. I ended up not wanting to leave the people in the class which is why I teach them now. GOod luck!

It may be the meds stopping you from losing the weight.
They did with me,I sat at 85kg for 3 years on meds and lost 20kg when I came off them without even trying!
Go seek help from your Dr.
Good luck with it all x

Please go see your doctor. Being so depressed that you don't want to take care of yourself is not good, and being depressed can't be good for your kids either. For what it's worth, I have heard from many many women who say that they lost weight with the first baby but not the second. Myself included. I think it's pretty normal.
