When did your baby sleep through the night?

I feel like it's NEVER going to happen for my son.

At 6 weeks he started sleeping 6 hours straight, and waking up only once at night.

In June, he was 3 months old, and my husband left for the entire month for pre-deployment training. And he started waking up 3 times a night again.

Since then he has been waking up from 3 times a night, to as many as 6 times a night. And he's 5.5 months old. When my husband got back at the end of June, the first night back he slept from 9pm-5am. But hasn't done anything even close to that since.

He slept in his own room from 6 weeks on. Then we moved to Tucson, and he has to sleep in our room since we only have a 2 bedroom apartment and my best friend moved with us to be with me while my husband is deployed. So I would like to say he's waking up a lot because he's in the same room with me and hearing me move around at night.

But we've only been in Tucson for 3 weeks...he's been doing this for almost 3 months! Can't be a growth spurt....because that's one heck of a long growth spurt!

my son just started sleeping through about a month ago, so at about 11 months. which coincided with him falling asleep at bed and naptime all by himself. we had been gently withdrawing any help with going to sleep for a while. so maybe that helped with sleeping through the night. i had also started offering only 1 boob at a time in the night, and he never complained. so i figured some of the night feeds weren't due to hunger but more habit. in the UK (where I am) our health visitor's say that it is normal for a baby to wake at night to feed when they are under 6 months. experience with my other BFing friends seems to suggest sleeping through anytime between 6 and 12 months, but it entirely depends on the baby. in fact my health visitor doesnt expect a baby to sleep through before 6 months. dont let it get to you (i know it did get to me though) you could always gently test whether it's habit or hunger, and take it from there.

Hang in there, my daughter is 9 months old and she still wakes up at least once during the night. Soon enough they will sleep throught the night and this will all just be a memory.

It took until my son turned 16 months for my son to actually sleep 6 hours in a row. He's only 17 months old now and he doesn't sleep great. Some nights he wakes and some nights, he sleeps okay. Sleeping through the night is a milestone, just like walking or talking - some kids will sleep through as a newborn, some won't until they're 2. It's natural.
