I am returning to work in 4 weeks and I want to build up my supply of breast milk before I return. What kind of schedule should I keep for pumping and when is a good time to start?

I started from day one! It's good to get into a routine of doing it regularly. Obviously I've used up most of it for when I've been out because it doesn't last forever in the freezer. I'm also going back to work in 4 weeks. My routine at the moment is to express in the morning after the early morning feed - I'll feed my daughter on one breast and then express from the other. When I go back to work I will express once in the morning and once in the evening - that's what I did last time with my eldest daughter and that seemed to work fine.

I would start ASAP!! Pump in the am, after each feeding and when ever you feel you need to or if your babys not ready to eat and you know you could use the relief then I would also You will be surprised how quickly its all used up!!! :) And alwasy pump extra for each feeding. FYI if you store in a deep freezer it last up to 6mo

4 weeks b4 returning, I pumped twice first thing in the morning. That's when my supply was the most. Then after everyfeeding, I tried to pump and empty my breasts. Now that I am working, I pump once in the morning while I'm nursing my lil one. Then 3x at work and then do a pump and nurse when I get home. The 3x at work is enough for him to use while I'm away. The extraa times is just to be ahead of my pumping schedule. On the weekends I do not pump as much. I try to get at least 1 bottle in and 1-2 pumpings.
