I'd like to know which milk is better to give a 1yo? Formula or fresh cow milk?

I started my daughter on Whole Cow Milk right before she turned one; I'm still giving her Whole Milk but I switched it to Organic. It's more expensive, but she's the only one that drinks it and I feel better that she's not getting all the added hormones and chemicals. I buy it at Trader Joes and she seems to be doing fine with it.

If you are talking FRESH cow's milk... as in unpasturized... I don't think (though can't remember where I heard it) it's appropriate for babies. I agree that breastmilk is still the best milk for a 1 year old, but pasturized whole milk is probably a better option than formula... provided your baby is eating enough of a variety of foods to fill in the missing nutrients.

Breastmilk is best for a 1 year old baby. After breastmilk, you can give goats milk, rice milk, soy milk, cows milk. Goats milk is a lot easier for baby to digest than cows milk. Rice milk is also a lot easier to digest than cows milk but it can cause baby's intestines to bind up. Formula is not great for babies because it has chemical additives, unhealthy vegetable oils, corn syrup solids, corn starch, etc.

breastmilk is always at the top of the list. my pediatrician told me to stop formula at 1 year old, even though they make special formula now for beyond a year, she said whole Milk with vitamin D is best, after breastmilk of course.
