How often do older babies nurse?

my 14 month old son nurses between 7-10 times a day. seriously he nurses about 2 of those during the night and he is eating a select amount of table foods throughout the day. He is 27lbs 32inches and developmentally ahead with about 30 words and forming 2 word sentenses and he has been walking for 5 months now. he doesnt drink cows milk but has some water off and on. so theres a big realm of normalcy in this age. really anything goes! If she is happy healthy and growing she can nurse as much as she wants!! Happy nursing!

My 14 month old babies usually nursed about 4-5 times a day, and about once at night.

the wet diaper rule still applies- if they are having plenty of wets each day you are doing fine. nursing on demand is the easiest way to make sure they get enough. My 15 month old nurses a ton still. I am not going to give cow milk until she self weans so mama milk is 90% of her liquid intake.

When my son was 14 months he was still nursing fairly frequently too. Sometimes I felt like I was nursing a newborn again! I still allowed him to demand nurse, and his diet wasn't always great (same days he ate someday he didn't) so I felt like I was filling some nutritional holes. I was also at work full time as a nurse, so when i worked I was gone for 14 hours at a time, so I felt like on the days I was home he was making up for the days when I was gone.

My son is 14 months, and he still nurses a ton. He's not terribly in to solid foods, or even water at this point. I'm guessing he nurses between every 2-3 hours during the day (some times more), and every 3-4 hours at night. I've never limited his time at the breast, and I stay home with him, so I suspect that's one reason he nurses more than other kids his age.

If she seems satisfied, and is growing and meeting her milestones, she's probably getting enough.

Teira I have a 3 year old who still nurses a few times per day (mainly when he wakes up and then when he is ready for bed). When he was about 1 1/2 he was nursing 3 times per day for about 5-10 minutes each time. I guess I never really considered his milk consumption from me as part of his daily diet after he turned 1. When he started drinking cows milk I started looking at nursing as a comfort time vs. food time. Congrats on nursing so long...way to go :)
