I have to start looking for a new carseat and I dont know which companies to avoid and which was to look at for.

I have a Safety First Alpha Omega carseat. It's rear-facing, forward-facing and a booster seat. My daughter out-grew her other carseat, but she still needs to be rear-facing, so we bought one that was both. It's pretty good. A pain in the ass to get in the car, but once it's in there it's wonderful. A friend of mine has the same carseat and her daughter is forward-facing now, and she still loves it.
