my doctor said because ive had a previous c section, that my labor needs to start as naturally as possible. and to induce naturally they put a catheter inside your cervix and then fill it with sterilized water and its supposed to opeen your cervix and fall out when your 4-5 cm dialated.. anybody have experience with this type of induction???

I had it with my daughter. It was uncorfortable once in but not painful. Getting it in however was very painful. It came out at about 3 cm. Once it was out it relieved some pressure down there and slowed my progression a bit, but I think that was due more to me then the induction process.

It is better to allow your labor to progress as naturally as possible. Is there a medical reason (other than VBAC because that is not in and of it's self reason to induce) that you need to be induced? Otherwise I would fight to be allowed to gestate until 42 weeks before an induction would even be discussed.

I had it. It wasn't the most comfortable thing. They said it would fall out at 4 cms. and after 28 hours they just took it out to find i was 5cms and it had just decided to stay in there. I have to tell you though i was laughing at the idea of it just plopping out when i walked the halls lol!!

they started my pitocin while it was in and broke my water right after taking it out. from there it went smoothly. Including balloon time and pushing my labour was 35.5 hours. (only 25 minuets of that was pushing!!!). I personally, and this'll sound nuts, Enjoyed labour. Even the painful stuff. Knowing my body was doing what it should.. Was amazing.

GOOD LUCK!!
