Hi everyone! I am so glad to have found this group. I just found out I am pregnant due 12/25 with my 4th little one, which I will deliver via section. I have made myself sick over the last week reading horror stories about having more than 3. I am very nervous about what my doctor will say when I go in to see her next week. I am debating consulting a high risk, so I have more comfort and a nicer bedside manner. My 3 other children are 7, 5 and 2.

Congratulations... The constant headache could be from the spinale block, my doc explained that if i have a constant headache or megrain after the c section imedeatly or after a day or two and doesnt go away its sometimes cause the hole from the needle in my back didnt close properly and that they could then fill it with a bit of my own blood and it should be fine again..unless it was open too long and an infection starts..ask ur doc about that possibility?!

O wow.. 4? thats great!! I have had 2 but was hoping to avoid a 3rd but I fear they'll not let me.. I currently have no plans for the future babies but have no problem with c-sections. I think my 2nd section was easier and less painful than my first as far as pain directly after the surgery. The only difference was that my first had morphine pump afterwards and 2nd was only givin medication in pill form so there was much more pain directly after. My first was after 12 hrs in labor and my son was too broad shouldered and I had failur to dialate past 9. Second was elective because in state of WV they don't allow VBAC's as I was told. But that was May 08' so oh well.. Congrats to your new baby boy!!!

Wow... 4 c-sections... Just to think that it will be my future as I already had 3 and plan on having at least one more baby! Its good to hear success stories since there are so many scary ones out there!

It is so encouraging to hear that you have had 4 successful c-sections! My baby was breech and when the doctor told me that I needed to have a c-section I thought that I was throwing away my chance of having lots of children. All-in-all it was a blessing because I have my beautiful, healthy baby boy who might not have been here if it werent for the option of having a c-section and he means more to me than anything in the world. I dont know why but I thought you couldnt have more than 3 c-sections. Is there a limit? Or is it different for each woman??

Glad to hear you and your son are doing well. I have 3 handsome boys, all delivered by C-section. My oldest is 12 1/2 . My husband (boyfriend at the time) and I had him at the age of 17...I was so scared about the delivery process, and never even thought about c-secions. After 10 1/2 of hard labor the Dr.'s decided I need a c-section. My two other children were scheduled c-sections....all turning out just fine. My middle son is 7 1/2 and my youngest is 4. I've been hearing more and more people having c-sections. Back in 96 when I had my son, I never knew anyone who had delivered c-section, besides my mom. Ok since this is your 4th csection I have a question. I have two children. The first was not a c section but the last one 7 months ago was a c section. The scar seems thick and tender in some area and others you can not see it. The dr. said to push on it. Do you have any advice on what to do with the scar.

I've had 6 children only one of which was a c-section and all my vaginal deliveries had a much quicker healing time.  with my last baby i was at home organising my other sons first birthday party the same afternoon and the year before i was out shopping when my son was only 6 hours old......whereas with my c-sec i was a fortnight before i was able to go out walking about for long periods (the doctor said to take it easy for 6 weeks but I don't like being stuck in the house)

I had an emergency c-sec in 1990.....and i still find my scar itchy.....usually in the summer time when i get hot and more so when i'm pregnant.

Hi Kimberly, hope u  r feeling better,has u`r headache gone yet?? if not do u know it could be from the spinale u got (if u had one) my doc warrned me that i could get a terrible headache that lasts a long time after my c-sec (luckey i didnt) but he said it could be cured  by drawing a little blood and filling the little hole in u`r spine that sometimes doesnt close after a spinale, ask u`r doc maby it can help?! I had a c-sec on the 19th Nov 08 & gave birth to a beutifull little boy..Liam!!...We went for our 3 month vacciene today & he already wheighs 7.2kg & is 62cm...so he is a very big boy...hope u get better.. keep well..& enjoy u`r baby..they grow so quick!!

I have had two c-sections myself, and am wondering if it gets harder to heal the more children you have. We are talking about another one but Im scared I will not be able to tend to the two toddlers I have if there is an extended recovery time.

Miranda... In response...I was talking with my Dr about what my next delivery would be like. Before I got pregnant again I was told that if I had another baby before Isaiah was 2 then I would have to have another c-section. If I had another after he was 2 then I would be able to try for a vaginal delivery. Some Dr around will allow you to have a regular delivery. I was talking to a friend of mine and her 2 kids are 17 months apart.. First was a c-section and 2nd was not. So it really all depends on the Dr.

Wow...four!  Congrats to you Kimberly!  I have had three sections...all boys and all without complication except minor infection after third.  I hope you feel better now :)

Congrats!!! I have only had 2 c-sections & that is with both children. You don't need me to tell you that it is "murder" on the body!!!! It just seems to me that more women are having c-sections these days. Does anyone believe that doctors are using c-sections as an easy way out of delivery or do that many women really need it?

Have you considered a VBAC? Where I am from they will allow it after 2 or sometimes 3 c-sections.

I had this same discussion with my doctor after all my c-sections and he said every time that the scar is healed after a week. There is still tenderness, but you don't have to worry about driving. I was driving within 1-2 weeks after each of my four children. As long as you feel you can handle it and it's not long distances I would say your OK.

Glad to hear that all is well, I know how rough recovery can be.  I think c-sections carry so many minconceptions that this link would receive a great deal of notice.  My doctor told me that I should have the baby turned b/c having a c-section was such a major trama.  She scared me half to death, so I scheduled an aversion.  Well, they didn't even think it was going to work and my water ended up breaking a week before the procedure was scheduled.  The baby was breeched and backwards, and my water ruptured so there was no alternative.  The recovery wasn't a joy, but from what I hear vaginal birth is no party either to recover from.  My little girl was only 5lbs but had no problems or nic-u time.  She is now 17mos and we are ready to try again sometime in the next few monthes.  I guess I will be having another c-section in the future and I know women need the support of eachother sometimes to understand the process, the truths, and the fictions.  Thanks for starting this group!

i've had 3 c-sections myself their not a nice thing to have. i know how u feel. my first one was really difficult was in loads of pain, the second one was great but the third i got an infection

Congrads!  I also had my 4th c-section on Jan 20th.  (4th c-section in 4 years) We had a little boy as well and his name is Elijah.  I'm doing really well.  I developed a lovely reaction to surgical tape this time around.  However, that's all cleared up now and we are in full recovery mode.   Hope everything is going well with you!

Congrats on the new addition, I know your excited and so is the siblings, had my 1st c-section Dec. 15,08 and it wasnt as bad as I had read and heard about. I think recovery depends on the person and how they handle pain and healing. I didnt have to take any pain medication after the surgery. I was ready to go and was feeling myself by the 4th week. I was driving by the 4th week but I was taking it easy and only going to the grocery store, which is minutes from my home. But I didnt overdue it till my 6wk check up.

congrats !!!!!! i had a csection 3 years ago.. i didnt think it was as bas as everyone had said to me ! i ended up having a cyst removed almost exactly a year later .. it was thru my csection incision so the recovery was the same ! id much rather have a csection than natural childbirth any day lol

hi what did they say about u having your forth c-section did they say it was risky? ive had 2 c-sections and im with a new man and talks about having 2 or 3 children but not sure on the risk!

Congrats! Are you having 'spinal headaches' from the spinal tap? I did after my second c-section. Nothing is worse than trying to take care of your other kids when your head kills just from standing upright!!! Hope you get to feeling better!

Congratulations on the safe birth of Isaiah.  I have had 3 c-sections and fortunately the recoveries were all pretty good.  I also had the headaches after my second just make sure you keep drinking the water and take the medication.  However, if it gets any worse make sure you talk to your OB.  Love the name!

I had 4 c sections too- 4 in 4 years!! Hope you feel all better soon and con function with a newborn and 3 other babies. You can do it! Just make sure you're taking care of yourself too (right!). Stacey
