Emergency C section under GA

I HAD MY DAUGHTER 15 YEARS AGO BY PLANNED C-CEC AS SHE WAS BREECH AND MY SON ON 10TH JAN 08 BY EMERGENCY C-CEC WITH GA AS THE SPINAL DID NOT WORK. I WAS ONLY 36 WEEKS GONE AND WENT TO HOSPITAL FOR A CHECK UP AS I HAD NOT FELT ANY KICKS FOR A FEW HOURS AND SEVEN HOURS LATER I WAS ON THE OPERATING TABLE HAVING HIM. HE IS A VERY HAPPY HEALTHY BABY THANK GOD BUT I WISH I HAD HAD A BIT MORE TIME TO GET USED TO THE IDEA OF HAVING ANOTHER C-CEC I HAD NOT PACKED MY HOSPITAL BAG OR ANYTHING I HAD PLANNED TO DO IT THAT WEEKEND

I had an unexpected  C-section in May 08 as a result of my son's heart rate fluctuating.It also scared the heck outta me, but I knew it was what was in the best interest of me & my unborn son.The worst part of it all for me was the numbness due to the anesthesia.I hated that feeling..I felt like I was gonna have a heart attack.When i look back now something really beautiful came out of it all...our beautiful son was born healthy with no complications!!!!! The whole procedure is quite evasive, but try to see the positive.My hubbhy and I are also planning on trying for another baby within the year and intend on having another C-section.

When you say it was a bit traumatic for you are you implying yours was also unexpected?f it helps to talk about and to someone that has also had a Csection I would be more than happy to listen!!!!!  Take care   Heather  from Canada

My 1st C Section was under GA and the 2nd Selective. I have a very good body and dont regret it at all. As much as I didnt experience normal child birth, I dont miss it for any reason. You will forget it after a while if you have a good body like mine and only remember your child as the outcome of it all.

Yeah i know what u mean hun i had to ask my mum what my hubbys face was like when he first saw our baby. I think i am gradually coming to terms with it more and more if that makes sense i am a bit of a wimp to be fair lol xxx

I had my daughter via C-section in October 08 under GA.  My husband & I were going for a natural birth but I had HELLP syndrome and my liver was failing fast.  I was so scared I was going to die.  My daughter & I both made it through it. I felt sad because I missed the first 2 hours of my daughter's life.  My doctor told me that now that I have had this, my chance of getting it again is really low.  I still want another baby and the outcome HOPEFULLY will be different. It can be a really traumatic experience but you will get over it when your ready to. This is suppose to be one of the greatest days of your life, don't let you fear ruin that!

hi i had a emergency c section in september 08, it was a choice i had to take as i was getting really tired and sophie heart rate was dropping and not recovering, all i was thinking was i spent 19 hours in labour for it to come to this, but it could of been a different outcome

I thnk it is just seeing what i put my closest to aswell My poor mum and hubby will never forget the releif on their faces when they came through and saw me.

Thats what i think should be avaliable some sort of counselling afterwards after all it is major surgery and it can go wrong, i think the problem lies in the ante natal classes in my area you get a 5 min talk on c section and thats it when they really are more commene than the midwifes made out so i think they should be covered more in depth i mean lol i know what and episotomy is lol and that is not too lovely lol

Hi, I had an emergency C Section 13 years ago and like you it was quite traumatic and I vowed I would not have any more babies, it just put me off completely !! However, a divorce and new partner later I now have a 6 month old daughter aswell as a son who will be 13 in April. Funnily enough I had a planned section with Lucy and the difference was unbelievable !! Dont get me wrong I was scared as hell but it was all very calm, I was talked through everything that was being done and the experience couldnt have been anymore the opposite to the first time. I guess the medics have to act quickly and there is no time to think but i do believe afterwards things could be explained better and maybe counselling in extreme circumstance. C-sections are major surgery and altogether a very scary experience. Hopefully in years to come you will overcome the fear and have another beautiful baby
