How long did you breastfeed your child? Or, if still breastfeeding, what is your tentative weaning age?

I weaned at 13 months. I felt kind of bad since I had to do it quickly. I had just found out I was pregnant and since I already have a hard time staying pregnant I needed to wean imediately. Despite that effort I still lost the child. I was planning on slowly weaning her starting at 1 and finishing at around 14 months. But life always changes things.

My first is 4 and still occasionally asks for it. My second is 2 and gets it 1-3 times per day. I don't have a weaning age besides "when they're ready", but my husband has other ideas and impresses them on my older child.

With my first I breastfed exclusively until 3.5 months. I was to exhuasted and she didn't react well on giving both, breastmilk and formula. So I switched to formula.
Now I give both and it works fine. He is now 11 weeks and I think I can do this for a long time.

Still nursing at 1 year. Planned to stop at 1 year, but still nursing twice a day. I've been working since she was 6 months old, and she still gets breastmilk at daycare in a sippy. I have to stop by next month as I am taking a trip without her, but it is harder emotionally for me to stop. She was never demand fed, so if she get it she is happy, but does not request it.

I planned to breastfeed a minimum of a year. Well my goal was 1 year with a minimum of 6 months. My son only latched a few times the first couple days and wouldn't after that so I exclusively pumped and bottle fed him (he was tiny) I made it 7 1/2 months with him exclusively on breast milk and then I slowly decreased at 9 months I stopped completely. It became very difficult since I worked full time since he was 10 weeks.

My goal was 12 months, but I breastfeed for 14 months. At 12 months I stopped with the morning feeding and just did in the evening and bedtime. We also co-slept for those 14 months. The transition from our bed to the crib was easier than I thought it would be.

My intention was around 6 months old but I continued until my baby was near 9 months old. It's a personal choice and like Laura mentioned in her comment...sometimes a baby needs more calories then what nursing can offer a growing baby.

I breastfed exclusively until 7.5 months when my milk supply was no longer enough to satisfy her. From 7.5 to 9 months I breastfed primarily but would supplement with a bottle or two a day. At 9 months I completely weaned off breastfeeding. My daughter transition very well during all of this.
