I'm really enjoying this... Although I feel bad that he lost his job and we do need the money... Secretly, I am enjoying every second of it! For the last 3 weeks, he has done the cooking, cleaning, and taking care of the kids! I have done nothing! I play with the kids and I help feed them a bit, but other than that, our 4 year old daughter and 15 month old twin boys are daddy's duty! No more of him coming home and saying "I worked all day, what did you do?!" Instead I am getting thank you's for staying home with the kids and "I don't know how you do this everyday!" By 6pm, he's begging for a nap! I know I shouldn't be swimming happily in his misery, but I can't help it. He finally understands what it's like to stay home with the kids! 10x's the work! Now he's starting to go stir crazy. He actually asked if we could go visit my mom today, just to get out of the house! I'm thinking about going back to work and just letting him stay home with the kids for a few years... It's fair to trade back and forth, right?

If my husband and I switched places then he'd see how easy I have it...I think being a SAHM is not a lot of work. My daughter is not hard to handle. The dog and cat get on my nerves and that's what makes me miserable!! really, I cant stand it. But he loves the animals so he'd have a blast. My fiance is actully worried he's going to get fired...i'm actually happy because that means we get to move back to our home state!! At least I can try hard to find a job and he can deal with the home. We'll both be happy doing the things we like and I can have a social life =]

My husband has been laid off twice now, the first time I had to go back to work when my son was 7 weeks old, then I came home when he was 6 months old, and then back to work when my son was a year old. I don't enjoy it though, I would rather be home with my son and feel like I'm not missing out. By the time I get home, it's time for dinner, then bath, then to bed... and sometimes I miss the dinner part, for my job is very demanding. :( Although I like hubby cooking, cleaning, and doing all the home things, I really want to be at home.

Enjoy it but maybe both of you could look for work and who ever gets the job first goes back. Good luck!

I think it a very good idea. I work full time my husband got laid off over a year. It been great he take care of our one year old and goes to school 3 times a week for 3 hours. I love it. I will work for two years then it will be my turn to go to school and he will work.
