Just curious, if its abnormal that a 3, soon to be 4 year old is not potty trained? What is the average age for potty training to begin.....end? When should they be potty trained by?

mine were toilet trained before 3 years old.Much more convenient that way, and saves on diaper costs! : )

My son is three and it is difficult, he will sit on the potty if I put him on, but it is still not his decision...

Thanks! Just curious, I don't have any toddlers and I am watching this little girl and she is not potty trained and they won't let her in preschool unless she is. So that is why I am watching her. I have a potty chair, but her parents aren't pushing her to use it much....and I honestly don't know how to potty train.....I mean I say tell me if you have to go potty, and she tells me after she goes potty....just not sure where to start since I am not her parent....

Boys and girls are both different when potty training. Girls tend to train faster than boys do, my son was almost five when he finished potty training and my niece was two. Therefore, it is all depending on the child. If you push them too early when they are not ready, kids tend to wet the bed. So hang in there and maybe introduce the potty and see what the reaction is but do not get discouraged. I'm not sure if you have a boy or girl but if you have a boy, a trick I used was to throw a few cheerio’s in the toilet and played the "lets shoot the oh's" game and he really liked that! I'm hoping this helps!
