I love my "Chocolate Eyez" to death but I need a career... I have gone to school twice a graduated from both but for some reason I can not find a hospital or doctors office to hire me.. I want a job for two reasons one to provide for my LOVE and two to get a little time away from him so I can cherish him that much more.... Does my second reason sound selfish?????

I feel the same way about my 3 year old! I did a semester of college and found out I was pregnant again. Now he's 11 months old, and she's jealous/evil/whatever you want to call her! LOL I want a job but at the same time I don't. I want to work to get away from them/the house, but at the same time, I don't want someone else taking care of my children and seeing all the "firsts". Getting them into daycare is also expensive, and my paycheck would go towards that, so it doesn't seem to have a point. AND if I could even get a job with the economy...Ugh...

I have been working for a different at home business for the last 5 years. I say different because we don't sell products that people don't use. That is if you brush your teeth, do laundry, and wash dishes? It's a way of mom's helping moms. In fact if all of us on here came together to do this same thing we would make money instead of helping Mr Walmart, Mr Sams, Mr Target, and Mr Kroger the richest people on the planet! I also love that I don't sell anything but I have recieved a paycheck every month (even when I didn't work) for the last 4 years! Now beat that!
I will add that I have 3 kids, a husband that travels and am very involved in my kids school and sports. In fact I volunteer every chance I can and don't miss out on anything...that's why I am home, to be with them! I love helping other moms be active in their kids lives and am always looking for moms that want to stay home to partner with us on our wonderful team. I hope that each of you searching for something from home find what works for you because when you do it brings lots of joy to you and your kids. My kids love what I do and are proud to say thier mom works from home and is always there for them!

A lot of us have been in the same situation. My husband is military so we relocate and have to find a new job, house, etc. It gets to be old but we make it work. I'm currently a stay at home mom and loving it but sometimes just need to get away. We move again in a couple of months and I will be homeschooling my daughter because we can't get her into a good school where we are moving until the next year. I've tried selling Mary Kay but it didn't fit my schedule or budget. I'm currently selling Pampered Chef and loving it. You might want to try and look into some sort of home direct sales. It helps to provide a little money and also some much needed time away. We get frustrated so easily sometimes that we just need a break, at least I do and it lets me set my own schedule and make a little extra money. Make sure to do research though. As for pampered chef, it cost me $80.00 to get started because I already had a lot of products. For Mary Kay, it cost me more and I had to provide the gift with purchase. It was profitable for me. You have to do something that you enjoy but also something that will fit your budget. I'm not sure what your degree is in but if it's nursing, have you considered a school position such as elementary or day care facility? Hope you find something you enjoy greatly.

I do the same only it is with a healthy coffee. I am helping people make better decisions about how to stay healthy since they already drink coffee, tea and hot cocoa. we help people with so many health problems and those that drink get paid to drink the product. so ultimately we help them get healthy and help them bring more money in their pockets. Alot of people do this business along with other businesses to compliment theirs because most everyone drinks coffee.

I would love to get a at home job but, i dont have the money to start it and i am not sure which ones are real or a scams. So just keep your heads up high and things will get better.

Selfish!? Not at all...You need adult conversation and kids need to be with kids...I work 18 hours/week. I spend one day with one girl and the other day off with the other girl...I appreciate them so much more and they appreciate me more....I say get an office job until you find what you are looking for. It is too easy to start feeling unemployable when having a hard time finding a job.. Good luck! And you are never selfish for needing time away!

I feel the same way. I really need to return to work. I have an Associate's degree in Business Administration. The jobs that I have been applying for is not giving me call backs. I do get a lot of minimum wage job offers though.

I abolutely love working from home. I help other moms too! It's great because I don't have to do parties, take orders , deliver produts, or collect money. I love my business for so many reasons but one of them is I can set my own hours so that I can have quality time with my family.

Daria, I totally understand! And NO the second statement/feeling is not selfish at all! I have been using this drop-in babysitting service at the Y where I teach Zumba and it has been a blessing. It is NECESSARY and IMPORTANT to take a break from the little ones to refresh, replenish, release, and relax from what we do as a daily routine! And for me, it involves many hours in the day seeing as though my hubby has a long commute! I did not take any time in the beginning, but now I am realizing that I NEED to in order to be a better Mom/Wife, etc. I do miss my career (higher education) and teaching Zumba gives me that release that I need to be able to come back to the family REFRESHED! I hear you and feel you Daria and it is nothing wrong with taking some time for you. We MUST do it if we desire to better care for our families. Gotta take care of SELF first! :)
Best wishes to you :)

That sounds fine to me too...being away from Hubby and kids allows you a bit of space to come back and appreciate them even more..its healthy in my book...If you are earning money too that takes the strain off the finances..bonus!! I have four children (although all grown up now with kids of their own) and I needed that space too earning or not...nowadays though it seems the only way to survive which is a strain in its self..thats why I still like working from home...party plan and stuff so that I can choose my hours and around my family calendar.

Sounds perfectly normal to me!!! After relocating for my husbands job, I realized that going back to a regular office job was not going to happen for me. After I finished mourning the loss of my career, I realized I could still contribute to the family finances and get back some self esteem that I had from working. I started selling Tastefully Simple and it really works for me. I get to be a stay at home mom during the day but at night and maybe on weekends I get to hang out and be with people that appreciate what I do! I get paid to party!!! So far it's just part time - this is what I want now. But I really like being my own boss and being able to pay for classes for my daughter.

I don't think it's selfish to want to take care of yourself. It makes you a better mom!

Makes sense to me! I am feeling the same about right now and glad school is going to be starting so I can start concentrating on my business again. I work at home and have some work that takes me out of the home when I choose. Although I have not had the opportunity to build my business, it is slowly coming to fruition, so I can have BOTH worlds and smile at the freedom! Try reading the book - Imagine Being in the Life you Love. You can order it from Amazon.com AWESOME motivation and down to earth information! My friend is a hometown girl with common sense we all can use! No reason why you cannot create what you want and still get what you need. Go for it!
