Do you think discipline in the Caribbean a form fro child abuse?

If you see this, leave this form field blank.

That all depends on what you are calling discipline.

There is spanking and then there is beating the crap out of a child with a pot spoon (belt, guava whip etc.), the latter I would consider child abuse.

There is time out in your room with no toys or television and there kneeling on a grater in the sun hold two bricks over your head, the latter I would consider child abuse.

There is telling a child that they will not have recess for the week for forgetting a history book at home and there is making them stand in the noon day sun with their arms straight up over their heads for 1 hour, the latter is child abuse (and actually happened to my classmates and I at the hands of our history teacher, I got heatstroke).

I somewhat agree with this question since i myself got some beating. It did not teach me anything more than to hate the person.but on the other hand i think kids need strong guidance to stir them in the right direction.
