I just got into it, quite by accident when I read a facebook post by another young mom who mistakenly bought into the nonsense about circumcision. I wouldn't have responded to her because it was too late but the number of her friends who said they would do the same appalled me. There is no excuse in this day and age to proceed without research....and the research is irrefutible. Circumcision is on a huge decline other than for the Muslims and the Americans. It's almost abolished in England and regular doctors won't do it in Canada anymore.
The only argument I've heard that may hold water is cleanliness when it becomes the boys responsibilyt. However as a mom of two boys I can guarantee it is one part that gets well washed once they are left alone in the tub. At very least it should be up to the man when he's grown not done without his consent at birth.

well, i'm against it, which is why i joined this community. ;)

for a plethora of reasons but the one that most concerns me is that i consider it to be a violation of basic human rights. i don't believe anyone should be allowed to permanently alter someone else's body without that person consenting, unless it is a matter of immediate life and death and that person can't mindfully give their consent at that time.
