The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that kids under 2 years old not watch any TV and that those older than 2 watch no more than 1 to 2 hours a day of tv.

Even though it would have been much easier to plop my little guy in front of the TV (to get things done, to get a break, to eat in peace), studies have linked watching TV at a young age to ADD and other possible disorders (including slowed communication skills...look online, you'll find the studies). We didn't start letting him watch any TV until age 2 and then it was extremely limited...20 minutes at day sometimes. Now at age 3, I confess that I will occasionally let him watch some tv when he wakes up at 6 am and his baby sister is still sleeping (so that I can catch a few more winks). But he will still get no more than an hour and that is probably too much. Yes, they love TV, but that doesn't mean it's good for him. It's passive. It's better that they be doing something active (books, puzzles, coloring, being outside).

my oldest daughter is 5 and she been watching tv since she was 6 months. I don't think any age is to young. Both of my girls watches nick jr, pbs, and sprout. They have some wonderful shows on there. There are very educational and show parent some good activities to do with the kids. I watches and do the activities with my kids all the time.

My son loves a variety of different shows. He gets involved in Dora, Diego and Yo Gabba Gabba and it's fun to watch him get excited.

i dont think its an age thing compared to how much tv they are watching. i dont think its good for kids to watchto much tv there are so many other things to do wit hyour day then watch tv especially when they are young it is important to get them to want to be active instead of sitting in the house watching tv
