Cheap Fun Local Places for Families?

We have a local movie house that on Wed afternoon children movies (usually over a 1 year out) are only $1.00 So during the summer we do that. It is cool and air conditioned. We also have a bowling alley that on certain days kids get to bowl free under 12 years old and all you have to do is rent the shoes. The kids like doing this but it is on their schedule at the bowling alley usually during the day before 2 pm. I like to take them to the library and let them choose their books. The parks are always good to take them to and they can play all kinds of sports and I bring lunch and a sand chair with me to sit on and they usually sit on a blanket. The playground is always a good choice. The playground near us has movie night on Fridays and we just bring a blanket with us. The movies play after dusk usually around 9 pm. So they get to stay up late that night. Some restaurants have 1 adult buy and 1 child free so I always look at that.
i like this blog. thanks for that. that is my challenge too. being single mom with limited income i have to find cheap place for my 2 kids. so i have some ideas. and in time i would like to share some events too. libraries have wonderful activities for every season and all are free. carnegie center has family literacy nights once a month. it is free and they give dinner too. these are i can think right now. in time i will give more info. see you.

We love picnics at Versailles's Big Spring Park, and the Falling Springs pool isnt too very costly, but would love to find more places to go. The Lexington childrens museum is awsome for now (my mom gave us a membership last year) but it adds up quickly.
