You can call around to gyms in your area and ask what age they start with. Most that I called said anywhere from 2 to 4 if she is to young to start just do simple things with her at home like front rolls stretching working up to splits cart wheels back bends jumping not being scared of being held up high and other things. sometimes you can find a mommy and me tumble class like gymboree.

My daughter is three and I just started her in Mini's. Most competitive teams start Mini's at three, though some don't allow girls until 4. Really it depends on the team AND your child's "maturity" level. My daughter had a bit of difficulty concentrating at first but she's a bit hyper-active. Her cousin however took to it like a duck to water at 4 years old. As for gymnastics, I couldn't tell ya, but it would be a good idea to look into what classes are available for children. Statistically, the earlier you start the easier it is for children to develop their skills.
