After 5yrs of stable work I got layed off june of last year. Now I feel like I am the only mom in the world who is struggling with the fear of letting my children down. Am I? Is there support groups for this?

No, you are not alone. After 5 years of stable work, I too got layed off, last March and have been unable to find anything since. My husband works and I'm on unemployment but I am terrified of letting our kids down. I don't know if there is a support group but I get really depressed sometimes when they want the simpliest things. My Mom (their grandma) has been wonderful at helping out with things. I dont' know what I would do without her. I just hope the kids understand and realize how hard things are someday. We do try our best and that's all we can do. I try to talk to them and reassure them that this is not because of them and hopefully things will get better soon. Hang in there.

You are definitely not alone...how many millions of people out there are still out of work? Our local area has a mental health omsbud person who has access to information about a lot of stuff like support groups. Or you might try calling a local mental health organization. Hospitals will often have information for various kinds of support groups, too. And many groups will list their meeting times and places in the local newspaper. One other place you might check is with your local unemployment office...they may know of a group. Hang in there! Those kids need you!
