Hard to Potty Train Girl - HELP

My lad seemed scared of the potty too, but only when he actually needed to go. he'd sit on it for ages and then when he needed to go, he'd ask for his nappy back and would get hysterical. we chose to wait so as not to pressurise too much. this really worked. it wasn't long before he started to complain that his nappy was wet (even if he wasn't). like some of the other ladies, i left him run around bare bottomed. he got the idea really quickly. best advice i can give is RELAX!!! :-) . It will take much, much longer if you panic- train. just remember, how many teenagers are running around in nappies? they all get there in the end!!!

I am having the same problem but mine is she likes her diapers she is scared of the potty i always ask her but like my doctor said you dont want to push them when they are ready they will tell you and he said if you start to early like if they arent reasy they will go backwards.

my child is having the same issue.. she loves her princess pull ups... loves her princess panties.. some days WILL pee on the potty.. but not not always... she will always tell me after when she has peed or pooed.. but yeh... i feel your frustration!

If you know that she is ready to potty train then take her out of the pull-up. This feels just like a diaper and is the same really. Kids know this. I potty trained both my son and my daughter in two patient weeks by having them start off bare bottomed in the house and sitting on the potty evry 20 minutes to start. When they are successful they can have a longer break in between, but keep them near the potty chair. When they have an accident they will feel it immediately and probably not like it. Save the pull-ups for nap and bedtime.

It will happen over night. I would advise you not to pressure your child. We just left the potty hanging around the house and then 1 day out of the blue he just sat on his potty and that was it he did it everytime then even putting pants on him to go out one day he said i dont want nappy i want pants so thats what we did and he hasnt had 1 accident. he is 2yrs 6months now & he started on the potty just after 2nd birthday. I put my daughter on the potty every 5 minutes. I know it seems extreme but it kept her focused and kept her mind on learning how to use the potty. Every time she went she got a sticker and after 10 (took her about 2 days to earn 10) she could pick a "prize" from a bag.



Had her PT'd in a weekend.

I dont have a girl but try taking her in the bathroom with u when u go and tell her what ur doing and that shes getting to be a big girl and thats what big girls do.let her put on a pair of panites and ask her if she would whether wear the panies instead of the diaper or pull up.Good luck

hey, i'm potty training my boy at the moment, it took a long time to get him started, (he's 34 months) i'm glad we waited though, he is on day 4, we've had 2 dry night nappies and only one accident in 4 days. we're using a sticker chart which is working really well, also, he gets to flush it away in the big boy toilet, great fun for him (frustrating for me!) this might make it fun for her. or maybe - try the big girl toilet instead? hope this helps

i used a chart with stickers on it for my daughter. she helped me make the chart and each time she went on the potty she got to put a sticker in a box, once she filled all the boxes she was allowed to pick out a small toy at the store. i only had to do this a few times before she was using the potty with no problems. i displayed the chart on the fridge so she could see it and she was proud of it.

I personally would not make such an issue about it, peer pressure at daycare is what seems to trigger my daughter (26 mos.) too.  I read that the earlier you start, and the more you pressure them, the longer it takes..?  I know it sounds silly but my husband and I try to make a point of announcing when we "need to use the toilet" and it seems to capture her attention/curiosity.  So far, she is just telling us after she's already "done it" in the diaper, but I'm not the least bit worried, it will happen, just like the day we woke up to a talking toddler, it happened overnight!!  Good luck to you!!

I don't have any answers and am having similar issues with my 28 month old girl. I have noticed when she hangs out with older girls (3-6) who pee on the potty she seems more determined to do it. Maybe try some peer pressure?
