How old is your baby? Babies are designed by nature to need a parent nearby at all times, even when they are sleeping. If babies were meant to sleep alone, you wouldn't need to "sleep train"!
I co-slept with both of my babies until they were ready to make the transition to their own beds. My son has been sleeping in his own bed since he was 2, and my daughter is now in her own bed at 19 months. Both of them sleep well and have almost always slept through the night, with no bedtime issues. Pushing them before they are ready causes nighttime insecurities and sleep issues. Follow your baby's lead and you won't go wrong!

Is he in your bed, or are you in his? HAHAHA. Anyway, I couldn't put my daughter down to sleep, so she slept on my chest for a long time. I was scared she would stop breathing. I recommed a monitor with a movement sensor attached. It will monitor chest movement for you. It helped me feel a little more secure. How old is your little one? It can really be hard when they're unable to talk.
