How do I prepare my son and I for the first day of Kindergarten? I am nervous and anxious as much as him, how do I convince him it will be all right? He went to preschool but, it was only 3days a week this year it will be 5 days a week. Any tips or advice would be wonderful? Thank you

Hi Sharon,
I'm guessing your DS has already started, since nobody has posted to you yet, but there are a couple of books that we read about K'garten before DD started:
The Night Before K'garten, which I found in the "Steps to Reading" racks in the kids' section of the book store and
Kindergarten ROCKS, which I actually found at Wegmans grocery store!
Each one talked about how much fun K'garten is, how much they'll learn, etc, and it seemed to help DD a lot.
We also visited her school several times before school started. There were visitations, open houses, events that were open to the public, etc., so we made a point to go to those.
The last thing we did was found out which kids from her PreK class were going to the same school and made SURE we kept in touch with them/saw them over the summer and then actually requested that DD be in the same room with at least one of them, so she would know someone from day one.
All in all, having just gone through this 5 days ago, I can tell you the transition was MUCH MUCH harder for me than it was for her!! Kids are resilient....your DS may surprise you!! ;)
