Hello....I am trying to figure out if we should potty train my 25 month old. She can tell us when she poops but that is about it. She is comfortable with it on her but I am getting pressure from family members well shoot....they were saying she needed to be potty trained when she started walking. They bought her a potty but she is not trying to use it at all. Now I have a twelve year old and he was totally different from her sooooooooooo what do you think? Is she even ready or do I force her?

Don't pressure her but she might not know how to talk about it without you first starting the conversation. Talk to her, she sounds smart and probably very independent. (most girls are)

Do like we do our husbands - let her think its her idea.

Also, bring her in the bathroom with you. Get her a potty chair, let her sit while you and anyone in your family is comfortable with her in there.

She is at the right age to start, 24-27 months is a good age.

If your daughter is strong willed, do yourself a favor and don't try to force her or fight with her to do it. My almost three yr old was almost potty trained at 18 mos, but her and her Daddy had 3 fights about going potty (he made her wait and she had and accident, and was embarrassed) and she just stopped. I tried to force the issue, and it became this power struggle. She would just freak out and refuse to use it if you even suggested it. I let it go, and now a yr and a half later she is finally decided to start going on her own. If she's waking up in the morning and naps dry, I'd say go for it, do it slowly, but don't get discouraged if it doesn't happen right away. I keep getting told three is the magic number. =)

Don't listen to the pressure. You know your child better than anyone. If you are using the word 'force' than she is probably not ready. Every child is different but the experts say not to force a child b/c it makes it 10X worse and can prolong the training longer than what it normally would have been. Good luck!
