very much worth it my son went from 5 words at 15 mos to almost 10 at 19 mos plus the signs the speech therapist teaches helps him when he cant say a word... he is more vocal and seems happier and less frustrated...

My son was in Early Intervention (I think its the same thing) for 2.5 years and it was a tough schedule. He had speech, PT, OT and special instruction totalling 12 hours a week of therapy. He is now in Special Needs Preschool with some of the same therapists still working with him. It was wonderful and horrible at the same time. Wonderful because he made some progress, we got him sitting and walking. Horrible because I watched him struggle through every session knowing he just wanted those people to go away. All in all it was worth it, without the services he received I know he wouldn't be able to sit on his own, or walk, or even play with his toys.

Absolutely worth it.. my son had b to 3 services in CT from 12 mo. he got great care.. great team and the transition into a special ed preschool was a simple transition - already in the system getting services .. dont hesitate a second.

I'm in Missouri, and we have an early intervention program called First Steps. My son was evaluated last April and started physical therapy the next week here in our home. He just turned 18 months old and is now almost walking! The next step for us is speech, which I will be discussing with out intake manager now that he's 18 months old. In my opinion, early intervention programs rock!

My seven year old had a teacher that came to the house to work with him. His speech didn't develop until after age three but he made strides in other areas.

Hi there. My son has delays across the board. He has more of a cognitive delay. He sees a PT, SP, and OT. The Speech therapist works alot with sign language like signing " more", etc... We don't have any diagnosis yet (hopefully someday) but he has alot of the same tendencies as an autistic child would have. The speech therapist also works with feeding and chewing aspects. My son has came far since he started seeing the therapists, so I would say it's worth seeing one or having one come to your home once a week or whatever. Hope this helps!! Take care!!!

I have only great things to say about birth to 3! My 2nd son had, and still has, speech, OT and PT thru B to 3. My youngest also had speech with B to 3 and continues on with the school district today. Its a wonderful program :) Definitely get the evaluation and accept help if help is suggested. It can only help!

I understand the challenge of having a child with learning & developmental problems. My daughter was born 9 weeks premature & suffered brain damage - Cerebral Palsy. She had many challenges.

I found a new wellness technology that gave us amazing results in a very short time.

My son has been in 0 -3 since he was 4 months old. It started as physical therapy every week because he has low mucle tone. He also got feeding therapy at 4 months then occupational at 8 month for sensory processing problems. He now gets pt evey other week ot every other week and st 2 times a week. He has been in st since he was 16 month old. He hasn't made much progress but he has speech apraxia and doesn't say any words except for hi. He is at a 5 month level for expresive speech. Even though he is having trouble with speech I have nothing but good things to say about 0-3 good luck

i thought it was worth it. my son had a speech problem [ didn't talk until he was 2 1/2 ] and got speech therapy twice a week which coupled with being around other children helped him pick up speech. his words aren't completely clear, but atleast he's talking and picking up words now.

My son was in the birth - three program from the time he was a year old. We found out what was wrong with him, and they gave me and my ex husband advice on what we can do to help when he isnt with a therapist. He had speech and occupational therapy once a week and physical therapy started at once a week and then he made so much progress that we went to every other week. He loved his therapists and I was sad when we had to leave the program. So from experience, I would say try it and see. It could be the best thing that has ever happened to help you. By the way, my son is now 5 and is starting kindergarten this fall. He still has his issues, but we are still working through them. Good luck and if you want to talk, contact me.

Absolutely worth it! You should welcome the intervention and stay until they kick you out. I think you should utilize all resources for your child. Like my Mom always said, "it's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it." My daughter was born with a brain tumor and after suffering a severe seizure diorder had 1/3 of her left hemisphere removed. She is visually impaired and they told us not to expect her to ever speak or walk. She has had every therapy available and now she is getting ready to graduate Kindergarten-in a mainstream class. She runs, plays catch and sings constantly. She still has some isssues, but I shudder to think what her prognosis would have been had we not done everything we could. Hope this helps.

If you've gone I hope everything went well. I work for South Carolina's early intervention services (not sure where you're from) and you can get very specific information about all areas of his development since one tends to impact the other sometimes.

Very much worth it. Even if you don't think that there is an issue, they will be able to tell you if there is.
