Hi Moms,
My daughter is turning 3 next month and was just prescribed SMO's for both feet. What are your experiences past or present with them? Hopefully my insurance won't reject this claim. They are jerks : (

That is about the price of my daughter's. My daughter did not walk until 22 months and she got the braces at about 26 months beacause her feet pronate in and she was having trouble with her balance. Hang in there.

Hi Heather,

I don't know what brand yet.  The orthotics specialist just made the casts of her feet last week.  They're waiting for the insurance to authorize it [sigh} which is a pain in the butt, because I've had to fight insurance recently over covering a stander for her.  The price they gave me [if the insurance did not cover} was 984.00!  I'll ask about the brand the next time we go in.  It doesn' bother me so much that she's getting braces.  I am actually excited because I hope it will help her with balance.  She's almost 3 and still does not walk.  I know that when she's ready she will, God willing.

Thanks for the feedback!  I'll keep you posted.

My daughter has sure step smos. She loves them. She got them when she was about 2. She has had them for about three months, they help with her pronation. My insurance would only put the cost toward the deductible, but we worked with the rep and he was great. I would caution you to be careful. We went to an orthotics specialist that tried to sell me a pair of orthotics(not sure step) for $600.00. I could get these same orthotics for less than 100.00 through her PT. What brand are you looking at? It did take me some time to get used to the idea that my daughter was going to were braces.
