My daughter was born at 32 weeks, 2 lbs 13 oz- IUGR baby. Her NICU ultrasounds never showed PVL but an MRI at 13 months did. (For unknown reasons her neuro decided to not disclose that finding to me UNTIL my recent appointment a couple of weeks ago. Over the phone 5 months ago- he told me there was nothing to worry about and that the MRI only showed obvious signs of prematurity. Pissed? Yes, I am.) This is fairly new to me and I am really researching treatments / therapies that work. We haven't received a cp diagnosis but I am arming myself with knowledge just in case so if it comes, I won't completely melt down. She is currently 18 months and can sit unassisted- IF I place her in that position. She is not crawling, walking or talking yet either. Weight is a little over 16 lbs. She has been getting PT and OT since she was 3 months old. She has recently started taking Anat Baniel Method lessons and has shown some improvement in her movements in the last month. Her sitting has really improved and she is using her hands much more. She has very strong legs but has a weak trunk with low tone.
Has anyone tried ABM, aquatic therapy, chiropractors, hippotherapy, music therapy?
Are you adding cod liver oil, fish oil or flaxseed oil to their diets?
If I didn't list it, PLEASE give me some advice of others to research and try.
Thank you!
