Hi, I have a grandson that is 4yrs old. His maternal grandfather has Beckers MD. His mom is a carrier, so she had a genetic test done while pregnant. The test was positive. My question is, what should she be doing to prepare my grandson for the onset of what is in store for him? She is is taking care of her dad, knowing what is store for her son, but has yet to take my grandson to a specialist to see if there are things she could be doing to prolong the symptoms of BMD. Her uncle has BMD also, and the difference between the two are night and day. My grandsons mom just tells me theres not anything the doctors can do. I dont accept that answer. I refuse to not fight for my grandson. There has to be something that will make his life more comfortable when the time comes that he starts feeling the symptoms from the BMD. The only thing I see her dad doing is sit in a wheelchair, popping pain pills nonstop. I cannot believe she will not even take him to a doctor to find out about new findings on this disease. If anyone has anything that would help me understand her way of thinking, please share it with me. Im going crazy here!

My oldest son is presumed to have Becker as well. We are waiting on genetic test results as we speak.
