Hello, my name is Tara I am a mom of 3 and step mom of 2. and I have a child that was just diagnosed with bipolor disorder. I started to notice that something wasn't right when she was about 16 months old. And that was when I started taking her to doctor after doctor to find out what was wrong and everytime it was the samething she is just a normal child and will grow out of it. She is now 11 turning 12 and things for her have gotten worse and out of control. So finally after moving to a new place and seeing the doctor there we finally started to get some answers. I also have one son that has adhd and needs as much attention as my daughter does and with have 3 kids at home and 2 others that we try and keep in contact with life is hard. I was just wondering if there was any advice or maybe some tips on different foods that might help her and stuff ? Thank you.

Keep a journal on each child. Note medication changes and their effects, behaviors on each day, etc. this will help track mood swings and help manage medication.

Two of my three children were diagnosed BP & ADHD, with one also DX'd as ODD. writing everything down really helps keep things straight. It will also help with tracking meds that have worked, haven't worked, length of time they worked, etc. this will be helpful when you're making adjustments every few weeks/months, so it will be easier to see patterns changing with moods/weather/medications, and so on. I did this and it was a HUGE help when my kids were taking turns in & out of the hospital. Also, check with Social Services & NAMI in your area for support groups. They'll help you keep your sanity as well!

best of luck!
