I am torn as to what to do and would like any advice I can get. My son is 6 almost 7 he has had 4 sets of ear tubes and is scheduled for another set on Jan 9th. I am thinking about postponing the surgery. He has had one minor ear infection and fluid on the rt ear once in the last two months that the tubes have been out. He recently had his hearing tested and his left ear was fine but the dr. said his rt ear wasnt as good. Anyway should I postpone or go ahead with the surgery? How many sets of tubes have your children had? I just hate having to put ANOTHER set of tubes in if they arent that necessary. Thank you!!

He had a unilateral cleft lip and palate. We go for our annual check up in a few months. Does your son need a bone graft? We won't know yet and it is a ways off, but that is one surgery that terrifies me. He did really great with the other 2 and is such a happy baby.

Thanks so much for getting back with me!! Your the first person to respond to one of my post. Anyway I did cancel the surgery, Im just going to play it by ear. He hasnt had any ear infections in the three months the tubes have been out. Im just afraid that with more tubes means more scar tissue. So your little guy is 19 months? Was his cleft a unilaterial or bilaterial.

Sorry this is late. Did you already get the tubes? We have had 2 sets. The first was when they did his lip surgery and they fell out weeks before his palate sugery and he had another set put in then. My little guy is only 19mths old tho, so I can't say if we'll need more or not.
