My husband came home from MEPS yesterday, he will be going to Ft Benning, GA. His leave date is Nov 02, he's going to miss Thanksgiving but he'll get a 2 week leave for Christmas I guess. We've told the kids and they are excited for now. Not sure how they'll do once we actually have to say good bye but we can only take it one day at a time. We've told our 3yo that Daddy is going to be leaving for school for awhile (16 weeks) and he seems to understand it that way.
I continue to pray that things will be positive for us. I plan on going to the Christian book store and getting him a small travel type Bible and hopefully he'll actually read it. He has fallen away from the church as we'd had a lot of church issues/problems over the last year and he just doesn't want to get hurt again I think. I asked him if he plans on attending church during basic and he said yeah probably so that is at least an answer that he is considering it right?!? ☺

Hi Charlene,
My husband is currently at FT. Benning in Basic. He is still in red phase, so we don't hear from him much right now. This is truly the hardest thing I have ever done. I hate being away from him, but I know God has a plan and this is just one small piece of the picture. I think you will find that Basic will bring your husband closer to God. My hubbie and another soldier were actually able to start a small Bible study during processing dur to so many soldier looking for answers. It quickly fell apart once they began their actual training because of time constraints, but I am confident God will complete that which he began. Congratulations, and I'll be praying for you and your family. Also, by the way, there is a great disscusion board on here for Ft. Benning. Become A fan of Fort Benning and you should be able to find it. I find lots of encouragement there.

My husband also went to Ft. Benning, GA for basic! So I'm guessing that your husband is in the infantry? It would be so neat if you all got sent to Ft. Irwin, CA. That's where I'm at. I have one Christian friend here. I only have two friends at all, but only one of them is a Christian. So it would be awesome if they sent your husband here. But that is all up to God. If it's His will then it will be. Anyway, good luck with everything. BTW, I've been an Army wife for almost 3 years. So if there's any questions about the Army, feel free to ask me.
