I was anti-homeschooling at this time last year. God has completely changed my heart, that is the only way to explain it!

I'm in Colorado, I hope you can connect with other moms near you!

I too believe that scripture tells us to home educate. He said that WE are to teach our children all day long of Him. Can't do that when they are away from us all day. It also says that we are not to "sit in the counsel of the ungodly". Well, that is exactly what parents are doing when they send their children to government schools. There is not a more ungodly institution around!

It was a process.
First I was not happy with Public School.
Then one of my sons just hated every day at school.
He actually came to me and asked if I would Home School him.
I jumped right in and said yes.
God just began to bless and provide like I had never seen.
Then my second child asked if he could come home too and of course that was what I was hoping for.
So here I was with two High School boys needing to be homeschooled.
I prayed God Help Me Through and things began to take off.
The first thing that happened that was a blessing was that the kids from the public school began to bring me their books to teach from..
I laughed so hard.
I got comments like....
I sure wish my parents would home school me.
Can you homeschool me too?
I was amazed.
Now I am happy to say that one is in college and the other graduates next year.
Still Homeschooling.
God will provide all you need when you take that step.

For us it was a little different. We started our kids in the public school, but it just didn't work. They would come home and we would argue about habits that they picked up at school, fight over getting their homework done, and then I would send them to bed. There was absolutely no family time, no time to teach them about God's Word, it was horrible. I knew that wasn't what God wanted for us, but it was all I had ever known. We knew a few families that homeschooled, and while we knew that it worked for them, we never even considered it. God eventually softened our hearts, and while it hasn't been a piece of cake, I really think it's the best decision we ever made, and I am ever so thankful.

Hi Tiffany, There were several things that confirmed that this was God's best for my kids. The first one is that I have a son with ADHD - he does much better with one on one schooling. Another was that our district schools did not have excellent reputations (academically or morally). We tried homeschooling and saw that it really caused my boys to flourish - so we will continue until we feel God calls us to something else. Many blessings to you.

hello. well my hubby was more convinced than I. he came up with the idea prior to marriage! I said sure honey, not knowing squat about it. now that I'm doing it God reassures me even more each day. times when I see our oldest girl getting those ah ha moments I cannot describe the feeling. now homeschooling is full effort on mommy's part. it's a full time job with overtime:) You get to share life together, literally. I feel that if God calls God enables and guides you to the right tools. When I don't know something, I'm real with her and say let's look that up together, or I'll try and find a book on that. We love the fact that we get to live out Deut. 6- teaching them when they lie down, rise up, walk on the way.... there are lots of things I could say but I encourage you to try and attend a regional or state homeschool convention to find more. I was always feel really encouraged when I attend. last thought for now, you know your kids better than anyone else in the world and God will be with you in every step of the way. May God bless you :)

I believe God's word supports homeschooling. I was leary at first, because I felt inadequate, but I know with God on my side I can do all things! I was'nt sure where to go for curriculum, so I started praying about it and the Lord led me to My Father's World, which has worked great for us. They also have a ministry translating the Bible into different versions around the world. Pray about it, and remember God will not lead you into anything that does not line up with His word.
