I'm looking for an affordable, full curriculum with daily lesson plans. Next year, I'll have a 1st grader, a Kindergartener and a baby, so I don't want to have to worry about lesson plans. I'm currently looking at Alpha-Omega Lifepacs and Time4Learning. Does anyone have any experience with these? I'm also open to other suggestions. (We did Sonlight for pre-school and liked it but it's not as affordable as we need in the future).

If you liked Sonlight but it cost too much, you might look into Robinson Curriculum. It is more than affordable. at $200 for all 12 years, + your cost for Saxon math books. We haven't purchased it at this point but I employ their ideas in my homeschooling. I had already decided on Saxon Math, and have the 5/4, 6/5, and 7/6. My 9yos just tested in reading and vocabulary comprehension and placed at 10th grade 7th month into the year. I attribute this to the Robinson Curriculum of Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic. My 7yod also tested and she placed at 5th grade 2nd month into the year. I am a firm believer in giving my children a firm foundation in reading. I loved the idea of Sonlight but the costs were so enormous, it just wasn't feasible. Hope this helps you.

www.iknowthat.com
I have a first grader who likes iknowthat.com better then time4learining. We also use ABeka. I love that problem. They do all the work.

Check out Heart of Dakota... I am using LHTH for my K and pre-schooler (6 and 4 years old). It is simple and the children seem to really love it. You can go to the website and see the first week of each level. I plan on using LHFHG next year for 1st grade.

I like Christan Liberty Press. But you have to plan some.

Have you thought about teaching them together (1st and K) I will be starting to use Weaver for my 2nd and K next year but they have a program called Interlock as well. I think it gives Day by Day instructions. I've seen alot of them used on ebay.

Have you looked at Rod and Staff- it is a Mennonite curric, very reasonable priced and conservative? Christian Liberty Press is also about $140 and very good. My Father's World is good but I think similar in price to Sonlight, maybe alittle less depending on how many of the books you can get at the library and if you want that hassle.

I have used A Beka and lots of people will sing their praises but for preschool, K, and 1st I have not been impressed. The science, history, and extras are very easy. And it is very expensive- even used.

All that said- Have you ever gone to Cathy Duffy's website or read her book 100 Top Homeschool Picks. I always recommend it when people are choosing between curriculums (the other moms are probably saying 'There Cheryl goes again!") but she has a few quizzes to help you filter out what currics will fit your teaching style and your children's learning styles.

AO I am not familiar with their elementary boxes but I hear rave reviews for high school. and I am not familiar with Time4Learning.
