Just wondering what you all do for valentines day? We always have a church dinner on V-day. This year we have a lunch THEN Our sunday schoolo class is getting together for dinner. I truly like our congregation and enjoy time with them but being a new mom and new to stay at home, this is a budget buster and i could have used the money for a nice date night with hubby. Wondering in anybody else felt the same.way.

OOPs ladies I forgot one thing ya'll need to pray and ask the Lord to give you the gift of deligation....DELAGATE DELAGATE DELAGATE we are all the body of Christ.  Just because you are a part of the head does not mean that you don't need the feet.  I'm just glad that he's the brain.  All of you have a body you can ask for help not a one of us can do it alone rely on the body that the Lord has put in front of you...Please know that you are loved and appreciated for what you do keep up the great work in spreading Gods Love and Grace                      ..Much Love in Christ ..

Ladies.

I'm NOT a pastor wife just a part of the body and it sounds to me like some of you need to take a break even if it's just for one full 24 hour period.  Yes the Lord calls us to service but he does not call us to put our familys on hold for him.  We tend to get so caught up in CHURCH activties Prayer, bible study 3x a week, worship 2 nights a week, church 2x a week and we get wrappedd up in the prosses that we for get why we are doing it.  The Lord wants us to spend time with him not with the church.  When we get that buisy we tend to loose focus on the true vision and thats the Lord.  I know all of you LOVE the Lord or you would not be in the service that your in.  Everyone needs to find a fine balance  he doesn't want us to have an all consuming life at the church draw your focus back to him because the buisier we get with the church the less we draw closer to him.

I will keep all of you in my prayers and just let the Lords LOVE wrap around you so you can feel his peace.

Here's another pastor wife's Valentine perspective....usually be attend Sunday school socials as our Valentine date...this year, however, we decided to make it about us.  We're going out on a "double" date.  My 3 year old son is coming along with his date...my mom.  We're going to make it really special for her...my dad passed away 18 months ago.  My little man is going to get her a box of chocolates and flowers.  It's going to be fun.

I have just one question for you....you said that it is a "budget buster"...do I understand that you are paying for the lunch and class dinner?  Typically, when we attend (which is 98% of the time) our fee is "waived".

hey no problem.  we have an individual plan with an HSA. but with your medical problems I guess that really does not work for you.  sorry I could not be more helpful?  Do you qualify for and state run programs?  I used to process insurance claims for an eye doctor so I am a little knowledgeable but not about the different states.

Thanks. We have met with the Guidstone people before. We don't have 10 employees which is what you need for group coverage and my daughter and I have health problems that make us ineligible for personal plans. Sorry to hijack this thread. I will start another one on this topic so I don't disrupt.  Thanks!

I am excited because DH and I are actually getting a date this weekend! No church activities for us! That rarely happens so I am very excited!

As far as for health insurance, our church uses Guidestone insurance- it's Blue Cross Blue Shield. It's a Southern Baptist program, but I think it may be open to other denominations' pastoral families too. You can check it out online.

I'm a pastors wife too.  Sometimes you just need to do what works best for you.

I, too am a pastor's wife and I am totally with you all on this issue! I have another question...what do you all do for health insurance? Our church does not have group insurance so my husband has just had to take a part time job to cover that for now. What do you all have?

I'm a pastor's wife too. I can totally understand your situation! Church activities are fun, but sometimes, you just want time alone with your hubby during the little time they have off.

Yes!!! I feel the same way. My husband is the youth pastor and is also over the worship department. We always have something going on at the church. I mean this weekend was a constant church event, mens sat. morning breakfast (he is gone), youth drama practice (I'm gone), young adult life group at our place from 6 and everyone stayed until midnight. dave is out the door by 6:30 am, sunday school, worship service, vision meeting luncheon, human video practice (I'm gone), youth life group at our place 6-9pm. AHHHHHHHH No break at all. sometimes i feel so bad for my 2 year old.
anyways the church is having an ice cream social and then watching a movie (fireproof), then our senior pastor has invited the staff to valentines dinner. Sometimes i just want some down time with my husband, not my husband the pastor, not my husband the counselor, just my husband.

My husband is the youth pastor at our church, and the sunday school classes are doing a dinner fundraiser, but we have decided to opt out and we are doing a little get away weekend. The teacher that is in charge was very understanding and didn't seem to mind too much. We did offer to help out in any other way (other than buying tickets and attending), so we are helping to provide drinks for the event. That way it is clear that we are supporting the event, but we can still have that evening as something special for us. I hope this helps!

I am a preacher's wife. My husband announced his calling to preach last October. I was a preacher's kid, but new to it in this capacity. All prayers and suggestions are welcome!

I am a pastors wife!!!  I get to spend my V-day with three Bible School students who are coming over for the weekend to preach at our church!!  On top of that, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are special services that we are going to so I don't know if I am going to have any alone time with my hubby!!!
