Are dinosaurs real?

Are they a part of the animals God created? If so, how did Adam and Eve come the first week with them. Scientists say dinosaurs were here before people. Science and God seem to conflict a lot, and it can get confusing. Are dinosaurs a lie or is there real proof that they were here?

Dinosaurs were real yes! I try and stay away from this kind of debate with people because it can get a little hairy but I will recommend to you Ken Ham's book Dinosaurs for Kids. He is completely biblically sound (he has a radio program on VCY) and it explains about dinosaurs and how everything happened. God doesn't conflict with himself, people just make things up, call them science and people assume science must be facts.

Then how do you explain "there was evening, and there was morning, the first day?" Evening and morning seem pretty specific to a 24 hour time period.

Do NOT get sucked into the evolution worldview! There's a guy named Brian who founded the CIA out of Nebraska. CIA stands for "Creation Instrucion Association." Please look up his website, and check out his great DVDs on this topic -- they are worth the investment. Also get hooked up with Focus on the Family -- they have some good books relating to creation too, and some written especially for kids. God bless your research!

And yes, to answer the question -- there were dinosaurs. They did coexist with humans. They were part of God's creation. Don't let science dictate your beliefs -- God has given us the answers in His word, and careful study of scripture wil give you the answers you seek!

I have listened to this guy some and wanted to share a link that will give a look at biblical proof of dinosaurs, when the existed and how they became extinct. It will give you great knowledge to have easy answers to people when they come at you with their "scientific proof." He also discusses many more issues. I know you will enjoy it. The Lord be with you all. : - )

actually Nouh's Ark held more then just two of every animal.. it held i think 7 cuples of animals. when i was young in highschool i went to a seminar about how they believe they had plenty of room on the ark saying they most likely had baby ones and some animals might not have had to be on the ark if they could swim.. like frogs and some bugs and im sure many dinos didnt need to be either.. one of he teachers went on and on listing animals on and off that ark and went in to some plans they would have had on it too. it was quite intresting..

Since my son is very interested in dinosaurs we have research and had discussions on this a lot. I ended up getting him a christian base dvd for kids called "the truth about dinosaurs". Dinosaurs were real and they were here but not when scientist would like for us to believe. The bible says that God created land animals on the six day, and if you look at a picture of a dinosaurs are they not land animals, this goes for sea dinosaurs as well. When the great flood happened with Noah it is believed that a lot of them died in the flood, except the ones Noah took on the ark! I am not go with bible measurements but have heard from ones who are that despite the pictures we see that this boat was huge - very huge! It would be to have to hold two of every animal, and Noah family. Since Noah did take two of every animal the dinosaurs were still around just not has many as there were. You can see that they are talked about throughout the bible with the name behemoth. In the middle evil times they are called dragons. I was not until the 20th century that the term dinosaurs was used. One the bones of a dinosaurs they found recently had tissue still attached to the bone, but if it died millions of years there would be no tissue on bones. I believe that scientist (even though I do love science) tries to twist things around to make it fit their theories and beliefs like with evolution (sorry I do not come from a monkey), and that the dinosaurs were killed by a massive asteroids that hit earth - my question to them would that if this huge rock from space hit earth like they are say then why is it still here, and better yet us! They have been countless documentary about what would happen if one of those things hit us and it would not be good according to them - the worst happening that the earth is knocked off it axis! My belief is that after the flood they never became the herd the once were, and just died out over a period of time. I am teaching my son this as well, since with out my permission someone already tried to teach him it was that big rock! And would be proud of him to goes and debate or disagrees at school with a teacher about this, and the evolution theory as well because he is expressing and standing up for his beliefs. There are many theories out their but just look in your bible about animals. You will see and the movie "the truth about dinosaurs" while it is corny is a great tool to teach your kids the truth!

some scientists dont buy that they are older then us..(as some believe in a god or a creation idea(not all say they have an idea on how everything came together) and some are infact Christian. You dont have to put aside God to follow in studying scince. ..
i for one believe they are real. just another word for "really bif animal" ha well from what i have haerd scientists say not all were reptile like or even large.. ha have You seen the bones of the TRex in chicago's museum? shes not that big..
and about dinos and dragons i like to think they are the same. =P

As mentioned, I'd suggest checking out Answers in Genesis or Creation Ministries International's websites for more info.

Dinosaurs are real, the bible talks about them, there is ample evidence they existed, just as there is ample evidence that man and dinosaur existed together - just one more proof that the long ages hypothesized (not proven) by atheist scientists is wrong.

Despite the brainwashing of children (and adults) into believing that evolution is "fact", evolution is anything but fact. It is the dominant theory, but intelligent design is growing in popularity with scientists.

Even amongst evolutionary scientists, they cannot agree on simple things like the age of the earth and universe, the order animals alledgedly evolved, how everything supposedly evolved.

The only absolute is the bible. Rather than trying to force the bible into science, we should making science fit the bible.

I think one thing we do as humans is put God's timeline as our own. One day to us is 24 hours, but is it the same for God? One day to God may be 10 million years! He not only created the earth, he created the universe! We will never know the answers until we stand before God. I believe there were dinosaurs and God destroyed them. I do not believe that we evolved from monkeys, otherwise, monkeys would no longer exist! ;) Why would some become humans and some stay monkeys? It doesn't make sense. Great discussions!

God created all the animals before he created Adam & Eve. He gave Adam dominion over everything. Dominion means: Power over, Authority over, Ruler. Adam is told to subdue creation. That means make it obey him.
There is sufficient proof that dinosaurs were on earth. I don't believe they were a problem for Adam. He named them and had dominion over them. IE An elephant is huge; yet men tame them and teach them tricks.
I had a problem when Scientists talked about the age of the earth and evolution. I prayed and asked God. It came to me that God created the earth old so it could sustain life just as he created Adam and Eve old so they could procreate. So when the question came up, "Which came first the chicken or the egg?" I knew the answer was the chicken. That was in 1965. Which, by the way, I heard that Scientests just proved that the Chicken came first yesterday (7/14/2010).

If you find conflict between the Bible and science, just believe God and science will someday catch up. If you find conflict in the Bible, just know that the Bible is a giant crossword puzzle and you have not found the missing piece yet. Don't give up on God. He will never give up on you and He will answer all your questions.

Gen 1:20 Then God said, "Let the waters abound with an abundance of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the face of the firmament of the heavens."
Gen 1:21 So God created great sea creatures and every living thing that moves, with which the waters abounded, according to their kind, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.
Gen 1:22 And God blessed them, saying, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth."
Gen 1:23 So the evening and the morning were the fifth day.
Gen 1:24 Then God said, "Let the earth bring forth the living creature according to its kind: cattle and creeping thing and beast of the earth, each according to its kind"; and it was so.
Gen 1:25 And God made the beast of the earth according to its kind, cattle according to its kind, and everything that creeps on the earth according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.
Gen 1:26 Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."
Gen 1:27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
Gen 1:28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth."

if you look up Creation Ministries you will get your answers, very good website and very clear, concise explanations. It used to be called Answers in Genesis... I agree with Cheryl... it also uses Bohemeth, they also say the average dinosaur that went on the ark was the size of a sheep... Makes a lot of sense

How do we know the earth is 4.5 billion years old? We don't. We can only choose to rely on carbon dating, which is extremely undependable. (You can get a crazy amount of variables in dates on the same fossil) Or we can choose to to rely on God's Word. There is science to back up God's word the real difference is between Creation and Evolution. Creation says the world is only around 6000 years old where Evolution says that it is billions of years old. Who do you trust more, God or Charles Darwin?

I took a Historical Geology class and learned that Dinosaurs died long long before man was made. The Earth is 4.5 billion years old, but man is only about 10 thousand years old. Dinosaurs went extinct long before God made man. Dinosaurs aren't the only thing that died out before man was made. There were lots of plants and animals on the Earth before God put man here to sustain life.

Leviathan, That there when your read about it in the bible sounds like a Dragon, the bible actually mentions it breathing fire....

I alway wonder about before the the flood, people lived much longer and stuff, but afterward our days to live on earth became less, that could be because of how both the earth and the heavens opened up and gave up all there water, scientist often say the earths atmosphere changed at some point and the dinosaurs couldn't live any more, well the flood is quiet possibly the change, even if 2 of each of them were taken on the ark, maybe they could live anymore, just like we stopped living for 8 & 900 years. There are lots of animals that the bible doesn't talk about, but because they aren't mentioned by name, doesn't mean they don't or didn't exist. If we didn't have documentation about the Dodo bird that got exstinct in the 17 or 1800's, we'd probably never believe they existed either, but some museums have specmins that have been taxidermied to keep them in tact, so we know they did.

God didn't mean for us to know everything, as someone else said the bible is our Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth and is meant to teach us how to live a life devoted to God, there are many things it doesn't talk about, because they aren't important for our relationship with God.

Another thought on dinosaurs. Modern day lizards are a lot like some of the pictures of dinosaurs scientists recreated, Lizards never stop growing until they die. Before the flood, trees grew to be taller and lizards could grow longer and larger. Now, they are moderately sized based on the vegetation in their environment.

Remember all the tales of dragons and the knights who go slay them? And "Here there be dragons" on the map? And even the Chinese Dragons. (though they looked different, there are dinosaurs of many different types)

What if when they said dragons they were thinking of the beasts we now call dinosaurs?

Yes, there were dinosaurs. They survived the flood. They probably became extinct since then.

How did Adam and Eve survive the garden with dinosaurs? The dinosaurs did not eat humans back then. In the garden, all ate only plants. After the garden -- Well, that'd be why maps said "here there be dragons" to warn people away, see? And as people encroached on their territory, they started needing to take care of them more directly.

Hi ladies,

My husband and I had the pleasure of going to the Creation Museum close to the Ohio and Kentucky boarder in the USA, in early June of this year. If any of you live close enough it was the highlight of our vacation.

On of the things they brought out was the story of the Behemoth in Job.

Job 40:15-24.

15 "Look at the behemoth, [a]

which I made along with you

and which feeds on grass like an ox.

16 What strength he has in his loins,

what power in the muscles of his belly!

17 His tail [b] sways like a cedar;

the sinews of his thighs are close-knit.

18 His bones are tubes of bronze,

his limbs like rods of iron.

19 He ranks first among the works of God,

yet his Maker can approach him with his sword.

20 The hills bring him their produce,

and all the wild animals play nearby.

21 Under the lotus plants he lies,

hidden among the reeds in the marsh.

22 The lotuses conceal him in their shadow;

the poplars by the stream surround him.

23 When the river rages, he is not alarmed;

he is secure, though the Jordan should surge against his mouth.

24 Can anyone capture him by the eyes, [c]

or trap him and pierce his nose?

They had a whole room on Dinosaurs

Here is the link.

I hope this helps or is at least a fun activity to do with your children that might be interested.

Dinosaurs are dead. You are not.

I was taught a great saying acronym.

B.I.B.L.E

Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth.

Thus the bible is filled with lessons on how to live for God so that you can go do heaven. Dinosaurs are not mentioned much because it is not relevant information about living for God and going to heaven. I believe that the bible rightly interpreted does not disagree with scientific fact.

Alot of the disagreements with science and religion is due to

1. Misinterpertation of the bible (ex: the Earth is flat)

2. Scientific theory taught as fact (ex: man evolved from monkeys)

Sure, they are real and are in the Bible. But remember, the word Dinosaur was "invented" about 150 years ago. But the Bible was written long before, it uses other names for them like Leviathan in Job 3:8, Ps 104:26, and in Is 27:1. Check out Answers In Genesis and Ken Ham's website. There are tons of resources, videos, and books for all ages about them.
They were created on days 5 & 6 with all the other animals. Some survived the flood, some may have been on the ark, the rest died with the rest of all living things in the flood- which made great fossils with all that water compacking the layers of sediment.
