Just curious on when to start giving baby food. The books say you can start as early as 3months. But I don't know. My daughter is 3months and a few weeks and she always looks at me like if she wants my food. and when I act like im going to give it to her she opens her mouth.

I'd say she's ready for baby food. Try baby cereal that you mix with formula or breast milk. You can also try the baby's beginner veggies & fruits, like Hinez baby food. Or make your own, smooshed banana was a favorite of my girls at that age. Or steam veggies, puree them in a blender and then strain them, but only one veggie or fruit at a time, my doctor used to say introduce one new fruit or veggie a week.. Don't add herbs or salt or anything as they are not good for baby at that age.

The 'recommendation' is 4-6 months. From my understanding it's better to start closer to (or after) 6 months.

That being said... my twins were the same way and we started them at 3.5 months w/ no problems at all and they are 8 now. My son was interested around 5 months, but didn't have a clue what to do w/ the food til 6 months. His interest came and went at random though and didn't eat solids on an every day basis til after a year.

I started feeding my daughter at about that same age... and she loved it!!! It sounds like your little one is ready to try it too. I started out with some vegies because my doctor said "they will always like the sweet stuff like fruit, so try vegies first" and she likes them more than the fruit!

I have always heard 4 months, but it does sound like she might be ready. You could probably try some rice cerial and see how she does.
