Does anybody have any good prayers to do with toddlers? my daughter will be 3 on May 21, 2012, and I would like to start getting her in the habbit of praying in the morning and at night. If anyone knows any prayers, techniques, or ideas I would love to know.

I agree with Jenny, pray what is in your heart, we pray every morning to have a good day, be kind to friends, respectful to teachers and to be safe-we pray for each person in the household (mom, dad and girls.) At night we pray for a good night's sleep and if we are aware of anyone who is ill or in need of prayers I try to include that as well so my girls will learn to pray for others and also to thank God for what He gives us-I always mention each family member by name when I thank God for them. We take turns praying so I can teach and they can learn.

I personally don't like to pray written or rehursed prayers much becuase they don't come from the heart. With my 3 year old daughter, we pray for her out loud every night and during the day occasionally and she has learned how to pray. Her nana (grandma) was just sick for a while and she prayed "Jesus, thank you for my nana and heal her in Jesus' name, Amen"

I do one with my four year old we have been doing since he was a toddler that he really likes. My pastor taught me when I was little. It's:

Jesus, Savior my best friend

come into my heart again

keep me safe and free to be

your child whose trust is all in thee

and show me Lord that you love me

from now until eternity

In your son's precious name,

AMEN

My son is 3 - we pray the following prayers below. I like to use Scripture...

Pray this prayer over yourself everyday:

Scriptures from Ephesians 6:13-17

Dear God,

I put on the Armor of God. I put on the Helmet of Salvation that protects my mind from the enemy. I put on the Breastplate of Righteousness, which protects my heart from the enemy. I put on the Belt of Truth. The truth is that Jesus is the only way to heaven. I put on the Shoes of Peace, so that I can go tell others the good news about Jesus. I pick up the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Bible. I hold us the Shield of Faith, which stops the fiery darts of the devil. I know that I am a victor and not a victim, and I love you Lord Jesus with all my heart, with all my mind, and with all my strength. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray these scriptures when you feel afraid.

2 Timothy 1:7

God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-discipline.

Psalm 34:4-5

I thank you Lord that you free me from all my fears; that if I look to You for help I will be beaming with joy.

Pray these scriptures when you feel bad about yourself.

Philippians 4:13

Thank you Lord that I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.

James 5:7

Father, help me to resist the devil so he will flee from me. I pray that I will draw close to You and You will draw close to me.

Pray these scriptures over yourself and family.

Luke 2:52

Lord, I pray that I will grow to be like Jesus, in wisdom and height, and in favor with God and with people.

Exodus 20:12

Lord, I pray that I will honor my father and my mother so that I may have a long life in the land that You have given me.

Colossians 3:15

Lord, I pray that the peace that comes from knowing Jesus will rule in my family's heart and that we will always be thankful.

Pray these scriptures for your enemies.

Romans 12:14

Lord, if people hurt me because I am a Christian, help me not to say bad things about them. I pray that You will bless them.

Ephesians 4:26

Father, please help me not to sin by letting anger gain control over me. Help me to not let the sun go down while I am still angry, because anger gives a mighty foothold to the devil.

I do a slightly different version: "Now i lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep, see me safely through the night, and wake me with the morning light, Amen" But either one is fine, and they learn it very fast. I like the morning prayer. I need to start trying to work that one in too.

Night Time: Now I lay me down to sleep,I pray the Lord my soul to keep.If I die before I wake,I pray the Lord my soul to take.Amen.

Morning: Now I wake and see the light,God has kept me through the night.Make me good oh Lord I pray ,keep and guide me through the day.Amen.

I said this every night and day as a child.
