I need prayer

I am currently the legal guardian to two beautiful little girls. They are the children of my husband's cousin. She is in prison and can not care for them. (Both girls have the same father.) We have had custody of them for 3 years and they are 4 and 3 yrs old. This is the only home they can ever remember. They call us mom and dad. My husband and I have been married for almost 8 yrs and God has not blessed us with children of our own. I feel that is for a reason, He wanted to keep our home open for these two little angels.

My husband and I are going to meet with a lawyer on Tuesday (2/24) to talk about adoption. There was a time when the mother (my husband's cousin) said she would sign the papers, but who knows now, she gets out of prison next month. The father of the children has not had any contact with the girls in almost two years, even though the court order says he can have supervised visitation.

What I need prayer for:
I know what I want for the girls, I want to keep them forever and raise them as my own, but I want GOD's will for their lives, not mine. I want my will to fall in line with HIS. And I pray that the meeting with the lawyer goes good. It will also be a financial change in our lives. Right now we receive a small check each month of taking care of the girls to help pay for some of their needs. We would probably lose this and it really helps us. I need to depend on God to take care of us, because He promises that He will.

Please pray for me.
Jessica

Has the natural mother been informed of your intentions? Will the children be allowed regular contact with their natural parents? Will they be told their true biological parentage?

In the UK this would be a necessary part of the Law. Children have a right to an identity and to know their biological family tree. I hope your are truthful with them.

Good luck with the adoption. These children were lucky that you were there for them. Never assume their natural parents don't love them or want them back. There, but for the grace of God go any of us!

I will say a few prayers for you!  I'm glad you were able to take care of these babies when they needed you!!  Remember What God brings you to he brings you through!  My Father in law says that.  He is a "minister of the Gospel"  that's what he calls himself.  We attend a church here that is a free will church.  No denomination.  Prayers are being said for you!

I hope all went well today...You are in my prayers...I know how touchy adoption can be...When I was adopted it took 5 years for it to be finalized....You are what is best for those girls and hopefully any judge can see that....Termination of parental rights can be forced...That was the case for me...So there is always hope even if she will not sign the papers, and some courts will take into consideration what the girls want.  Our prayers are with you...God Bless!

Well we had our meeting today.

Everything went very well. The lawyer said we are about 85% of the way there. The father hasn't made any contact in over two years so we would be able to petition of his parental rights, as far as the mother (cousin for my husbands), she has seen the girls in the past year, the only way we could go through with the adoption is if she will sign over her rights or doesn't pay child support for a year. I think she made a payment sometime last summer while she was working before she went to prison. We are checking with CSEA to see when her last payment was for sure. Once it's been a year we can proceed. It seems to be a little premature, but we could be rolling full steam by summer with the process.

I felt very comfortable in the meeting, my husband and I prayed before we went in and we had others praying for us while we was there. I am going to continue to pray that God's will be done in this situation and if it's not ment to be I pray that he closes the door.

Thank you ladies for all of your prayers and support. God is AWESOME! He has brought you all into my life at just the right time. It's comforting to know HE is in control!

God Bless and thanks again.

Hi Jessica, I will be praying for you and your husband. Thank you for sharing your story and for reminding us that sometimes it is important to pray for God's will. I have a hard time because I want my will and sometimes I forget that God knows best. Cindy

God will give you the desires of your heart!  Trust in Him always! I pray for favor for you and your husband when you go to meet with the lawyers!  May the Holy Spirit go before you to prepare.  Find scriptures and stand on them.  Nothing is impossible with God!!! In Jesus' precious name, Amen.

God is evidently strong in your life and I know He will meet your every need. God loves the girls more than you do, what great comfort that is!!

He WILL take care of you all, like you say, it is not your will, but HIS be done. even when things are looking their worst, and we dont understand, we can take much comfort in the fact that we have a loving God, and that he is infinitely stronger and wiser than we are. I will keep your family in my prayers, for His wisdom, comfort, and needs. God bless
