I need some serious prayer help please !!!

My 9yr old son had a lot of problems with his teacher last year at school which culminated with him being excluded from school for 2days one week before the summer holidays. Over the 6wks I stayed at home with both my children (unpaid !! killing me financially) to be able to spend time with them and get us all back on track. He worked really hard at an empowerment workshop we attended and supplementary summer school, he went back focused and ready for a new year. New start, new teacher and it took them 3 days to destroy my child. He now doesn't want to go to school and is sucking his thumb more than ever - after just 3 days. I am angry- upset and want to pull him out. I have a mtg with his class teacher this afternoon.

Uh, yeah, Alison, welcome to the half-truths, tell-mom-whatever-she-wants-to-hear world ;) I had 3 class clowns, however, their father was also one, so they got it genetically ;) Sounds like his teacher has his number, and with a little support from you, this could be his best year ever. We're prayin' for ya, sweetheart, once your kids leave the teenage years, YOU are NEVER the same :) Maybe some day someone will come up with therapy for post-teen syndrome parents!

Thank-you ladies !!! My son's do attend a church school where the head teacher is a Christian and it has a strong Christian ethos. Home-schooling is not an option as I am a single parent and I have to work full-time. However, I have met with the class teacher and he has my son sussed after just 3 days !!!! the reason my son is so upset and stressed is because this year he will have to buckle down and actually work instead of being the class clown !!!!!!! We had a good discussion for over 1 1/2hrs about the strategies he plans to use and how he can support what I have started at home. It all felt quite positive.



ps. as usual my son only told me the bits he wanted me to hear !!!!

Do you have charter schools or Christian schools as an alternative? I know you live in London, and I don't know the way the schools work over there. My son has his girls in a Christian school, which is subsidized by the State, so there is no tuition, and my daughter just put her son in a charter school that is run by the Assembly of God churches, so no tuition there. The children are doing beautifully there. I am in absolute agreement with Linda. It was hard enough when my kids were in school, but now it is even dangerous. Isn't it funny that the more 'enlightened' we get, the worse things get?

I'll pray for you. Perhaps you should pray about homeschooling. Public school is hard on the self-esteem of kids. We have really enjoyed homeschooling. Just something else to consider if you can't find satisfaction at the school. If you have any questions, I've done it for 15 years now.
