If the bible is the word of god, why don't more people take everything inside more literally?

Okay, I'm shutting this thread down. Respect needs to be shown to each and every one of us that post. I can see a debate coming, and this is not a debating community.

Not all people that claim to be Christians ARE Christians, so the Word of God means little to them. Those of us who worship God in Spirit and Truth take EVERY Word of the Bible as Truth.

God bless, all.

who is attacking your beliefs...I'm questioning whether your profile is real it says your interests are breastfeeding and domestic violence??? And that you are in an open marriage..well doesn't that go against both the bible and islam?

I was simply asking you a question.

Christians are to follow Jesus' example. He preached love. Striking someone down, in other words, murdering them would go completely against the 10 commandments. We are each responsible for our own sins. Homosexuality is most certainly a sin, the bible says it is "Lev. 18:22, "You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination".

Maybe because God's actually more interested in having a relationship of love with us sinners (and I mean ALL sinners, including those who gossip, lie, incite division in the church, which are as sinful as sexual immorality) rather than wanting to strike people down.

His word shows he is a compassionate, gracious merciful God.

Why are you attacking my beliefs? Im allowed to believe whatever i want to.

Back on topic, so surely us bible believers have to follow its words exactly? Sure we have to strike down the homosexuals as god wanted?

How did the Qu'ran get into this discussion? Confused!

I don't know the answer to your question Mary, other than to say that many "Christian" cults, sects and denominations are quite good at just picking out the bits they like. And to be perfectly honest, quite a lot of Full Gospel Christians do this as well. Whilst we may believe and even preach the full gospel of God's word, putting it into practice isn't quite so easy.

We're human, we're sinners and we're hoping our Lord helps us get better as we ask Him in prayer.

I got saved nearly 30 years ago. He has a long job on with me, LOL!!

I would say it's because perhaps their relationship with God hasn't yet reached a point where they feel everything is His word. Perhaps they haven't given their heart completely to him. He says in the book of

Exodus 20:3-5:

3 You shall have no other gods besides me.

4 You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.

5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them;for I, the lord your God, am a Jealous God...

The Bible and Qur'an are so different. I don't understand how you can merge the two and be both religions. Do you feel that you are being unfaithful to one or the other by dividing your faith in two? Just curious.
