Inspiration for what to write in a gift Bible?

My church is giving all of the 2nd graders their own Bible on Sunday. They are asking us to write a prayer for front cover of the Bible. I am drawing a blank as I want this to inspirational and sweet for her to cherish for years to come. Any ideas?

Hi moms,

I need a little help and inspiration in writing a thoughtful yet deep message in a new bible I am giving my girlfriend soon to me fiance. Sadly, I am not very eloquent and would end up butchering anything sweet that my caveman hands could put together! :)
Thanks in advance!

Think of whoever the recipient is as your beloved child. Tell her to love Jesus with all her heart. Children have this wonderful, all-encompassing faith that can move mountains. Tell her to keep that. Tell her she is a child of God and He loves her more than anyone ever could, so she can have confidence on Him. Tell her to read the words inside her Bible for what they are, lovely letters from our God to us, and if she reads these words, and keeps them inside her heart, they will take her through her life. Tell her to treat those around her with the love she feels today. Her child-like love will help her overcome the world.

If you have experiences you would like to address, though not the particulars, but what you learned from them, put those in. Tell her the things you wish someone would have told you. But most of all, tell her you love her, and all the little ones who are coming up to replace us.

I hope this helped, Jessica

Use one of Paul's Prayers...either something like Philippians 1:9 or Ephesians 3:17

I like the guide you often find in the front of Gideons Bibles, a list of where to find help in various situations. Gideons have a comprehensive list of scripture references on their website here:

Or in some Christian bookstores you can buy an adhesive sheet to attach to the front inner page of a Bible for just a few pence and it has this information on.

You could have a handwritten poem in the front of the Bible, either compose your own or put in something like this:

The vision that God has given
And the things that He has planned
May not happen right away
Or in ways that we understand

For often God’s preparing us
For when that day arrives
When we will see the outworking
Of God’s vision in our lives

Though it tarries, wait for it
For it will surely come
God’s timing never comes too late
He’ll accomplish what He’s begun

God is never slow to act
He will surely bring it to pass
We need not be anxious and despair
But have peace within our hearts

For when it comes we’ll be released
Into what the Lord’s prepared
So we will fulfil all that He’s planned
As we are being gently led.

Pr 4:20 My son (daughter), pay attention to what I say; listen closely to my words.
21 Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart;
22 for they are life to those who find them and health to a man’s (girl's/woman's) whole body.
23 Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.

This is God speaking to us in regards to his word. Remind her to pay attention & listen closely to all that God will reveal in his word to her, for that is truly health & wealth to us (spirit, mind & body) when we find it.
