Is a baby shower ok for a 2nd baby?

i think its completely okay. I had a baby shower for my first daughter and for my second. I am trying to conceive my third child now and we're hoping for a boy and I'll be having another baby shower this time around too.

Hi Chastity, I had a baby shower with my 2nd baby. I think as long as someone is giving you a shower why not enjoy the kindness. You just go ahead and enjoy that baby shower. Congrats!

I had a shower for all 3! This time ask for practical items such as soaps and shampoos, diapers wipes etc.

I was told when I was pregnant with my second child that a baby shower wasn't appropriate, but if you look at baby books there aren't any that say "1st born" 2nd born" or 3rd born" ect... so I did have a baby shower for my 1st born and my 2nd born the 2nd baby shower wasn't near as big as the 1st born, but I had different needs and like you my children are of different genders and I don't know if this will help you, but what I did for both of my children was "any" money that I received I put it toward their college funds. I hope this will help.

Absolutley, when my sister was pregnant with her second daughter I threw her a shower where everyone brought their favorite childrens book. It was just a fun way to celebrate the birth!

I have 4 boys, and have had a shower to welcome each one into the world. The last 3 have been thrown for me after the baby was born, as more of a welcome to the world little man party! You should always celebrate the birth of a new blessing!!!

i would have a baby shower either way my mother in law threw my first and is throwing my second baby shower i am having a boy this time and had a girl last time

Absolutely! Every baby should be celebrated. I even had a small diaper shower (hosted by friends from work) when I had my 3rd baby.

I think it is totally appropriate if your friends and family should decide to throw you a shower for your son.

Its fine. I also had a girl first, then a boy. We didn't get as much for the second one, but we didn't need as much. But you always need clothes and other boy things.

Even if your having another girl it's ok!! I don't remember it being writen any were that it's against the rules to have a baby shower every time your pregnant!! Congradulations on your pregnancey...May you be blessed ten fold with this new life your bringing into this world!!!

I think that it is important to have a shower or sprinkle for each child. Almost every baby book has place for pictures and cards from the showers. When kids grow up they see their baby books and wonder why they didn't have one. Plus it's important for moms in each pregnancy to get support and have all of their friend with them. They are really just great all of the way around. Plus every one loves a baby shower! They are so much fun. Any reason to have a party and get together is great!

I don't see why you shouldn't have another baby shower.. Boys need separate and different items than girls do.. Plus new baby items come along all the time.. If you have all the big items its not like you will be putting them on your registry list. Good Luck and Congrats!

Absolutely! My friends gave me a shower for my 2nd baby. They waited until after the baby came. (That was before sonograms,to determine the sex of the baby, were so popular.) I had another boy, so there was alot of things I didn't need again. So, they got me things that were not available when my first son was born. They also gave me a lot of diapers. It was great!

Yes, baby showers/sprinkles are fine for a 2nd baby. I've been invited to more and more 2nd baby showers than 1st baby showers this year. I know I'll have a second baby shower if I have a girl next time. :)

Is someone wanting to throw you a shower? You might consider telling them about baby "sprinkles". Essentially it's a small shower, since you've already had a shower and received the "big" things. These types of showers are great for second children, especially in your case since you mostly need boy themed items and not the big stuff.
