After reading this and some of the comments, I can't understand why we can't use our right to free speech to share things we hold near and dear to our hearts. When I was a kid in school, it always bugged me that I had free speech until I talked about my religious beliefs and then suddenly I didn't have free speech anymore. I can understand that a teacher probably shouldn't share that because a student might see that as they have to think the same way, but from a student to other students? That's just ridiculous!

I appreciate your comment and am so surprised to hear of similar stories. Thinking my experience was unusual, I am discovering that many parents have had to defend religion and teach our children the same, even at six.
Thanks so much for reading!

A guy I know had an interesting experience years ago with a school teacher. She was talking about Noah's Ark and asked the kids in the class how the animals went into the Ark (the answer she was looking for was "two by two"). This guy I know who was an eight-year-old child at the time said "Well, the unclean animals went in two-by-two. The clean animals went in seven-by-seven". Teacher hadn't read her Bible and was giving the kids the popular (incomplete) version of the story. She told this child "Don't be so silly, that's ridiculous, everyone knows the animals went into the Ark two-by-two."
Child went home complaining to his mother. She had every intention of going up to the school (armed with her Bible, LOL!!) but was pregnant at the time and already had 4 children to worry about.
But how ignorant can teachers be?
