Oh! Please come visit my church! You will love it! My church just moved from Philly to Aston, PA. It is right off of 95. I live in SW Philly and it takes me about 15 minutes to get there. But there is also a church van that picks people up from NE where our church used to be located. The info is as follows:

We are an international church. Our home church is in Word of Faith International Christian Center in Detroit. But I believe we have everything that you are looking for. We have a young adult ministry (18-35) called Propane. We are very active. We just came back from a trip where we spent the weekend in NY having great fellowship with the young adults of Brooklyn Tabernacle. Propane meets up the first Friday of every month. But there are so many other things to do as well. We have tons of options to be a part of outreach. Our congregation is a good size. Not to small and not too big.... big enough where it is possible to miss seeing someone who is actually in service, but small enough where if you were specifically looking for one person, you will find them. Everyone is incredibly loving and welcoming. We have a great time in the Lord. Our pastor, Pastor Echols, is a very open, honest, down to earth man who stands on the Word of God. Please, come visit! It's more than I could possibly describe, or go into on this post. (can you tell I love my church.) I attend a church in the University City area (near Univ. of Penn and Drexel). We are a congregartion of about 400, the majority of our memebers are in the age range of mid 20's to mid 40's. But ultimately we are church that loves God, the truth of the gospel is taught and the atmosphere is very loving. Dress is casual to dressy. We are located at 4017 Chestnut St. The name is Christ Community Church of philadelphia and our Sunday service starts at 10am.

@ Linda...I am soo looking forward to it and to Taylor being involved...I called and left a message because until she is of age, I would like to volunteer with AWANA. I also will be visiting one of the churches from the list this Sunday! God is good!!
I will also look into the other church you posted..thanks sooo much :)

You're welcome. My kids have done Awana now for 14 years. I hadn't heard about it before I had kids, but I think it's absolutely the best Christian kid's club around. My boys have memorized hundreds (literally) of verses over the years. I'm not sure if I would have had the discipline to have them memorize those on my own. Also, they have fun memorizing, earn prizes, and play some really fun games.

Awana was so important to my kids,that when we moved 7 years ago, I made it a priority to find a new Awana club in NY. The only one I could find was about 30 minutes away--so we started a club at the new church we had found in the area. My husband and I have been running that club for 6 years now. Awana is great because the kids are encouraged to reach out into the community and bring their friends, who then also hear the gospel. I could keep going, but then this post would turn into a ten page treatise! :) Oh--and if they do Awana all the way through high school, some Christian colleges award scholarships!

I'm not from that area either, but when I was looking for a new church in my area I found the most helpful thing to do was google churches in the area and check out their websites. You can tell a lot about a church from their webpage.

Tierra, I'm not from PA, but you can go to www.awana.org and look at the top of the page. Click on the Awana locator tab and put in your zip code. It will give you all the churches in the area that currently have Awana, an outreach program for children. Those churches have to agree to a basic statement of faith and are also involved in outreach. From there, I would visit the websites of the different churches and pray about them. The best way to find a church is to visit them and pray about each one.
