Mac is now starting the normal crawl but normally won't bother. He's using blankets and my shirts to pull up though. Is he developing behind his age group or okay?

My second son only army crawled, then once he got on his feet - he went from first steps to running everywhere!
He's now 8, and fully normal. :)

My little one didn't start to crawl until 9mo. and walked aroun15mo. He has always been on the later end of milestones and I have noticed this with all other developmental gains.

As others have mentioned each child is different and there are some 'strange' crawl motions out there. Enjoy him now, don't stress, soon he will be walking, running and climbing. Just keep him interested in moving about, tempting with toys just out of reach is great, but don't rush him to the next stage, just love and enjoy him now!

My first kiddo crawled for a total of a week and then just decided she preferred walking. Unless your doctor expresses concerns at his well check I would just enjoy the fact that he still isn't getting into everything yet! :P Plenty of time to "enjoy" his mobility later in life.

My daughter army crawled from 8 months to 1 year. From 1 year to 15 months she did the "normal" crawl. She started walking at 15 months. A little later than the majority of kids but she is just fine developmentally.
Milestones are guidelines, not set in stone. About half the kids will be ahead of the recommended age and half will be behind. The ones behind are not necessarily "behind". It all evens out when they are about 5 or 6.
My daughter was a little behind most kids on the major milestones, but she was so far ahead on other things. She's been successfully eating with a fork and spoon since before 1 year, etc.

My nephew never crawled. He sat up, did the bottom scooch and then pulled himself up and was walking by 11 months. Your son sounds like he's normal developementally. If you are really concerned talk to your doctor.

Babies develop at a different rate. You can't compare him to others. It is all on his (and God's) timing. Just give him lots of opportunities to practice and he will be crawling before you know it! Put toys that he likes just a little bit away from his reach to encourage him to crawl to them. Reward him with lots of hugs and kisses when you see him accomplish something. Good luck and Have fun!

Cheyenne - every child develops at thier own speed...do not worry yet before you know it Mac should be on his way. However you can always ask his doctor - he will know better at what age you should worry.
