I saw this advertisement today for a Bible that has your name in it in over 7,00 places.

When I went to the web site it showed a few verses with a name placed in the verse to make it read like that person was who God was talking about.

I know when I have Prayed the Scriptures in an Intercessory type of Prayer I have changed the wording of the verse to be able to but the person's name I was Praying for in the verse. I did have a hard time when I started Praying Scripture because it almost seamed like I was Praying a pre written Prayer I could memorize and mumble the words with out really thinking about what I was saying. I now feel the Freedom and Power of the Scriptures when I Pray that way.

So my question is this: What is your opinion on this type of Bible. Do you think it would violate the verses in Revelations that tell us not to add or take away anything for the Scriptures? At first I thought it would be neat to see my name or the name of a loved one in these verses now I am not so sure how I fell.

It sounds appealing and sort of gives it a more personal touch. But did it like replace a real bible name or puts a person's name in bracket in between?

Sounds nice, but I'd stick to my old bible, guess I'm old fashioned but I always could find myself in the verses anyway ha ha ha.

I think it would be nice for a gift or something, but it's almost novelty in one sense. I often pray the scripture or read something and God witnesses to me that it's for my life at that time or in the future and I might write out the verse with my name in it, but I don't know that a bible with my name through it is something that I would really use as I don't think it would be so good for studying & teaching & preaching.

I personally believe that the verse in Revelation is meant for the book of Revelation. It says who ever adds to the words of "this prophecy"... I wouldn't mind having a Bible with my name in it, it might be nice, however I would never use it for study purposes... It would be the same as having a thought for thought translation instead of word for word in my opinion...

Wow, difficult question. Yes, on the one hand, this would be adding something to the Word, and thus it would be wrong. But then on the other hand - like you said - it could make it easier to read - especially when we have promises in the Bible we want to own up to. I really don't know. Pray about it, and see if the Holy Spirit will bring you some wisdom on this one.

But I must say - it is tempting to buy something like this for my husband... how much more loved can one feel, than reading all those Biblical scriptures with your name in it? The one church we regularly visit, the one pastor often suggest that you write your name above the words "you" That's actually then the same, isn't it?
