I don't know what happened. I feel lost at church and sometimes do not feel like going. I used to love being at church. I hope I get my fire back soon.

Angelique,

I think that we are directed to be a part of a community of believers so we can lift each other up, pray for one another, help each other grow in Christ. You should speak to someone that you trust in your church community about how you are feeling.

My other advice is to reach out to someone else in your Church to help them-- SERVE, don't just sit in the pew---(pray about it and seek out discernment about where you are called to serve, where your gifts/ talents lie)----

God Bless!

I think the other ladies may be right. Perhaps you are not challenged any longer in your learning at your current church.

Just be watchful and find out hte beliefs of another church if you do go "church shopping".

I'm sure I don't have to tell you..but as a teaching opportunity for others:

You want a church that follows the principles in the Bible:
- Belief in Jesus (of course)
- Belief in God
- No bowing down to images or worshiping carvings or things made by man because ultimately if it is made by man..then it is not worthy of worship

Lots more but start with that.

One way to rekindle that fire, is to church hop to different ones. I always find it interesting to see, and whether you feel accepted or not will make a difference, or maybe after being out in the field, it will bring you back to your original one.

@Arianne--isn't it heartening when, after we have been through a spiritual fight, that we NOW can encourage others? Nothing trumps experience!

Nicely put, God bless

It's not just about going to church. The action of going to church is just that, an action. But as Christ followers what must matter most is our heart not our actions. And if your heart is not there (in your church) than you need to ask yourself why. Is it because the church is not feeding you the spiritual food that you really need? Could it be because you're not growing and you feel stagnant after attending the same church for so long? Could it be because there is some type of sin in your life that you know you need to overcome (I am certainly not accusing you, just giving you different things to think about).

The fact of the matter is that Satan wants nothing more than to pull you, as one of God's cherished children, away from the body of Christ. And it is up to you whether or not you are going to let him succeed. You might be looking at this situation as a struggle that you need to overcome, but how about looking at it as a growth opportunity that God is using to make you a stronger warrior for Him.

Think about what Satan has to gain by pulling you away from the body. If you have [temporarily] lost your zest for church, than it could effect your passion for our Lord. And think about who is going to pick up on that and learn that as an example for living??? Your child(ren). So then you feeling this way becomes a win win situation for Satan.

But you have to fight back. Take action. Get mad. Satan has to know that he is not going to pull you from the body of Christ that easy. Figure out why you are feeling this way and do something about it. It might mean that you end up in another church that is giving you more of what you need spiritually. Who knows? Only you can figure out why you are feeling this way. Pray about it and ask God to reveal to you what He wants for your life. It could very well be that He feels that you are coasting along and He wants to make you stronger. Who knows? But just don't give in. Because if you do, you're giving Satan yet another victory, and trust me, he has way too many in this world!

I say all of this because I just went through it myself.

Blessings!

This is where you press in. You start outreaching or witnessing to people on the street, read the bible and pray lots...because what are you going to do if you don't live for God/?? Press in Angelique you are letting your mind get you and you are not following your heart, it is a spiritual warfare....and you must press in towards our Loving God

I agree with Anne, sweetheart. Our lives ebb and flow at different times. Look at our marriages--we don't always have those butterfly, pie-in-the-sky feelings when our spouse looks at us, but we love them just the same. In a month or so, the feelings come back.

Going to church when you don't feel like it tells the Lord you love Him more than your flesh. How about seeing if the church has outreach ministries you can join? Or support groups? Nothing makes me more encouraged as to encourage others. I start out trying to uplift someone and end up preaching myself a sermon! Win-win!

God bless, sweetheart. Read your Bible, get the praise music going, put yourself out there to help lift someone else, and your heart will be on fire again!

Angelique I will keep. You in my Prayers.. I am not making light of your request, but I did want to let you know that many people have experienced what you are going through. Making it back to having the Fire you had will take work. Continue to stay in The Word, and Prayer. Going to church when you do not feel like it keeps satan from getting a foothold in yur life. Asking for help like you have here is a good thing. Remember many of us will be Praying for you.

Hi, Angelique. Has something changed at your church?
